Windsock (also called a wind cone) is a conical textile tube that resembles a giant sock. It can be used as a basic indicator of wind speed and direction, or as decoration. They are typically used at airports to show the direction and strength of the wind to pilots, and at chemical plants where there is risk of gaseous leakage. They are also sometimes located alongside highways at windy locations.

Captain's Log. 8-3-24
Decided to take the boat of the slip and trailer it to Merepoint boat launch to fish Harpswell area with Rob Proctor.
Got it to the boat launch and out on the water by 3:30pm. The weather was very nice out. Sunny with a few clouds. Not much wind.
We headed out to get bait at whaleboat Island. We rigged for mackerel. I got a few but wasn't as productive as we liked, so we hit a few different islands till we got enough for striper fishing. We also go to see some bald eagles and seals. We saw Half Way Rock Light house off in the distance
We headed to Rob's Honey hole around 730pm. Once we got there we noticed 2 fox playing on shore. After setting up, Rob went on right off at the bat around 26" and 3 others though out the night and had an insane run. I only got one but was a keeper, so it looks like we'll be having striper nuggets tonight for dinner! Never had a striper! I was a great night and headed back to the boat launch at 12 pm. Can't wait to do it again!

Got a very cool gift from a great friend!! A Custom Captain's Log!! So cool!!
Also last week installed new pedestals and Captain's chairs. The original seats didn't adjust at all and we're a bit uncomfortable. Also installed some fish measuring stickers for when we get the big one!

Captain's log: Late log 7-19-24
This evening was a lot less humidity and a cool breeze at the marina. Left around 315pm, Low tides at 6:48
On this adventure Rob Proctor and myself headed out to do a little fishing and showing me some of his old honey holes. Not many boats out this evening water was calm for the most part till we got out past Fort Popham which we decided to turn around and try in front of the beach. He just had surgery so It was mostly me fishing with his years of guidance. All my experience is fresh water fishing so I'm eager to learn!!
Got back to the marina around 8:45pm Didn't have any luck tonight but will keep at it. But nice to get out and open up the motor a little bit, almost got the new motor broke in and Love it!! 15 Hours of use. Always thinking of my mother while out the seeing Lighthouses and Wildlife!!! Like to think she's looking down and smiling ear to ear. Love you Debra Starbird The ADVENTURES OF STAR GYPSEA Continue!!!

Captain's Log:
Today was another beautiful day low 80's, mild overcast.
Greg Baker and myself headed out of the Marina around 945am. High tide was was 939am so plenty on water in the channel. No other boats in sight till we got to Kennebec River.
Were I lined up some rods to troll with using tube's with blood worms. As I was getting rods ready we had a seal following us till we took out the cameras then disappeared, apparently cameras shy. Three colors down. Going between 3-6 mph.
Made it little past BIW and turned around as Greg had to leave by 1pm. No luck fishing today, but still a lot to learn when it comes to troll for striper. 9.5 Hours of Use

Captain's Log :
Today was in the 80's and mild humidity at the marina. And the first one's there so we were in and out! Was nice to see they have a farmer's market right across from the marina.
As my beautiful wife and I went thru the channel and headed to Fort Popham we saw a couple bald eagle which is always going to see there numbers increasing. It took us 2 hours the get to the fort. On our way we saw 3 lighthouses. Doubling Point Lighthouse, Squirrel Point Lighthouse, Perkins Island Lighthouse.
Once we arrived at Fort Popham we sat and enjoyed the views with lobster rolls my wife made us for the trip. We debating going to Seguin Island Lighthouse but decided to head back as we were expecting and afternoon storm.
On the ride back I saw a couple porpoises and one sturgeon. Also saw the sand bar were a lot of people park and go swimming and a few good fishing spots. 6.5 Hours of Use

Captain's Log:
Picked up The Adventures Of "Star GypSea" at Yarmouth Boat Yard and everything looked perfect. New motor and new shiny gauges and they also installed a hydrofoil the motor the help plane faster.
After picking it up went straight to Bowdoinham Marina where Star GypSea will be parked for the summer. Nice quit area and not from from home.
Jeff Pinette and myself took her out around 530 and headed to towards Kennebec River. The motor is very quiet and I'm very impressed!! We saw a few seals swimming. A few Osprey's and Bald Eagles along the way. We made it to BIW and Doubling Point Lighthouse. Beautiful afternoon and smooth sailing back to the Marina by 730pm. 2.5 Hours of Use
