.unpopular.opinion.ug LIVE SHOW was epic! It was such an honor meeting the lovely .munyi and sharing experiences with .unpopular.opinion.ug and all the ladies and gents that came through! Love that my poodle bear Roman was here to share this experience with me as well. 🥰

Hey guys… so our song is finally available on YouTube and all major music streaming sites! I wrote this song for my husband Roman, and performed it at our Traditional Ugandan Wedding! The lyrics are in English and Luganda, but our German friends can find the translation in the description below the YouTube video. (Check stories for Link)

I absolutely love writing songs for Roman, he’s 💯 my muse! This is the second one I’ve written. He inspires me in so many ways, and we love to express our love for each other in many different formats. Looking forward to sharing more with y’all. Enjoy and Share Uganda’s no.1 wedding jam~🎵💃🏾🎶

Let’s talk INSECURITIES.

Happens to the best of us. I don’t know a single human being that doesn’t have one thing or the other that they are insecure about. So it’s fair to say that it’s quite a normal thing to have. But it’s a thin line between owning your insecurities, and projecting them on the people closest to you.

They say the number one killer of relationships is insecurities. It cripples trust, and it cripples communication. And without those two, you’d be left with one hell of a toxic situation.

I remember the first time I heard Roman laugh... On my online profile I had a few pictures of me on stage with my band, so he asked if I was a singer, and naturally I said yes. Then he said, “wow that’s so cool, could you sing something for me?” And I said “sure! There’s this hit I’ve been working on, but it’s not yet released so you’re gonna be the first one to hear it” He gets all excited and thanks me for allowing him the honor...

—and then I send a voicenote.. of me singing “Baby Shark!” 🐟 Like the whole thing! First verse, second... all the way, till grandma shark! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My dumb clown sense of humor and I found that s**t so funny, I was so pleased with myself! building him all the way up only to give him some nursery rhyme crap! Haha I was so sure he was going to be super annoyed though, and probably just block me for wasting his time. 😅 But man, he laughed soooooo hard!! you know that hard laugh like you can literally hear the person tearing up? gosh, that’s when I knew, this guy might be the one. 😁😁

Just because the past didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to, doesn’t mean your future can’t be better than you imagined.

We’re already half way to the end of 2021 and instead of worrying about all the things that we haven’t yet achieved and what the future does or doesn’t holds, Roman and I are reminding ourselves to live in the present and make each and every day count!

Besides, Today was once a Future, an idea that we did not experience until it arrived in the morning. So whether you worry about it or not, it’s coming anyway! Just don’t forget to enjoy the journey there. xx

I guess it’s true what they say, “someday you’ll meet the person you’re meant to be with, and it will all make sense why it never worked out with the rest!”

Every time I look into Roman’s eyes, I just can’t help but remember all the crap I had to take from undeserving guys, constantly choosing to see the best in people and hoping that they’d honor me, constantly being disappointed when they didn’t! constantly hoping and praying that I wasn’t meant to come on this earth to be alone and not know what true love means. Hoping that if I just never gave up, perhaps my right person would come along.

April 2020 I was on the brink of finally giving up all hope, my inner light had finally dimmed down and I had started to accept my fate that perhaps I’m just always going to be that funny girl, full of hope and ambition, but with nobody to call her own. And then... he came along!
➳
I can’t say that I knew instinctively from the very beginning that he was the one, it wasn’t fireworks and slow motion like in the movies. It was more like a calmness, and steadiness that I felt when I spoke with him. I realized that I could rely on this guy, and as we got to know each other he proved that he was true to his word, and shared my values. He believed in me and in our shared vision for the future. And for me, that’s all I ever wanted.

But much as it all makes sense now why it never worked out with the rest, I still appreciate them all because every experience I went through, good or bad, contributed to my evolution and moulded me into the woman that I am today.
➳
And why share it all here? Well, knowing where I’ve come from and finally finding happiness, I just can’t help but share it with everyone and hope that perhaps it can inspire someone out there to never give up. Matters of the heart are no easy feat, and it takes a village... Whatever you’re going through in life, don’t give up on your goals. know that you deserve happiness and that sooner or later, it will be in your grasp and it will all make sense! 😘

daily bonding rituals.
Going with the flow is a recipe for disaster. Be intentional and design cute daily rituals that will keep you in touch and bonded throughout the day. Good morning texts, midday check ins, goodnight video calls, et cetera. Really helps to feel close and involved in each other’s lives too.

save up for reunion trips.
There should at least be some set plan in place to eventually close the distance, otherwise can you even call it a real relationship. But until closing day comes, save up your little pennies and plan fun visits in between to your time apart.

fun sexy zoom dates.
We try to have these at least once a week because it really helps us get those butterflies flattering again. Be creative, surprise each other, play a couples’ game, cook together, have fun.

My First Easter ever… 🎉🎉 (that’s one of the best parts of being in an intercultural relationship, we get to celebrate many firsts together!) And I know some of you might be looking at me sideways coz we’re muslim, lol but Easter here is very much part of the German traditional culture than it is religious.. and since we closed the distance 4 months ago and moved to Germany, its been such a fun adventure learning about Roman’s culture… 🥰🥰 For Easter (Ostern), families decorate the house or the backyard with colored bunnies and eggs, and the kids can go treasure hunting for the special hidden eggs to symbolize the rebirth of the earth and officially welcome the Spring season. In our case, I got to be the spoilt kid for the day… 😁🤗 Roman got me a basket full of chocolate easter treats, and a special Easter Egg hamper from one of our favorite stores… @ritualscosmetics It came with a hair & body mist, a body wash, and a body cream.
