Masada is an ancient fortress on top of an isolated cliff, on the eastern edge of the Judean Desert, rising 63 meters above sea level, and about 450 meters above the Dead Sea at its foot. The cliff was chosen by King Herod to be used as a place of refuge and a royal fortress and on its flat top magnificent palaces, public buildings and pleasures were built. Fortifications surrounded the cliff and water collection and storage systems ensured a continuous supply throughout the year. It is a road in the old city of Jerusalem where, Jesus walked from the place where he was sentenced to crucifixion to the Golgotha Hill where the sentence was carried out.

The road is called by this name because of the suffering of Jesus when he walked it.

Via Dolorosa begins in the Muslim quarter, north of the Temple Mount, and ends at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in the Christian quarter. The road includes 14 stations, at each of which something happened to Jesus on his way.

Megiddo was the location of various ancient battles, including one in the 15th century BC and one in 609 BC.

According to the Book of Revelation in the New Testament of the Christian Bible, Armageddon the prophesied location of a gathering of armies for a battle during the end times, which is variously interpreted as either a literal or a symbolic location.
