DID YOU KNOW?

One of the key features that sets Universal apart from other Orlando Theme Parks is the Family Room / Child Swap Room.

This key feature enhances a customer's experience when visiting either Islands of Adventure or Universal Studios. Families visit a destination like Universal to spend some quality time together, but instead what happens for many families (especially multi-generation families) is they are apart as one family member waits outside while the other family members enjoy the rides.

If you think about it, this is a horrible way to enjoy a theme park. Waiting alone, outside, in the heat, humidity, sun, wind, rain ...seeking shelter wherever possible.

😁Not at Universal.

All guests are encouraged to enter the Que line together and enjoy the storytelling that unfolds as you wind your way up to the boarding area. Once at the front of the line, the non-rider can ask for directions to the family room.

The rooms are usually hidden into the landscape of the ride, around the corner. Once you enter, the rooms are Air Conditioned, offer seating, and usually have a TV monitor playing a related video to the storyline of the ride. It's a place to sit for the 4-5 minutes needed by the rest of the family to do the ride. Once the rest of the family completes the ride, they simply pick up the non-rider and proceed to the next attraction. Now they are always together, enjoying the theme park's magic.

What is Child Swap? If a child is a non-rider due to height, or just doesn't want to do the ride for whatever reason, then One Adult can sit in the room with the child while the other Adult does the rides with the other kids. Once they finish, they return to the Family Room / Child Swap Room and switch parents. Now the second parent can do the rides with the kids, and the kids love it since they get two rides out of the experience, but only have to wait in line once!

These rooms are throughout the two theme parks at most rides that have a height restriction and most are indoor rooms with AC. Most of the rides at Universal Orlando have some sort of height requirement

To participate, guests must purchase a brochure at a participating location and locate 15 themed trees throughout Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure, and Universal CityWalk. A Team Member will stamp the brochure at each location to indicate that portion of the scavenger hunt was completed. Once all 15 stamps are collected (or not), the guest can redeem the brochure for a Holiday ornament at the Universal Studios Store at Universal Studios Florida or Islands of Adventure Trading Company at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. One ornament per brochure will be issued. Park guest does not need to obtain any stamps to redeem the ornament.

Price: The Holiday Tree Hunt brochure with bag is $10.00 plus tax, per person.
