CEBU TO DUMAGUETE CERES BUS SERVICE WILL BE BACK SOON.

🚍 THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) 7 has reopened the bus routes from Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental to Cebu City and vice versa.
🚍 The first batch of buses are expected to serve the route by middle of January 2021.
🚍 Meanwhile in Cebu City, 192 buses are now taking over the lead in public transport.

Entry restrictions of aliens expanded

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced the expansion of entry travel restrictions starting midnight of January 3, 2021.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente shared that following an order from Malacanang, foreign passengers coming from the United States of America have been included in the list of those restricted entry in the country.

The USA adds to the list of 21 countries with temporary travel restrictions imposed due to the reported new strain of Covid-19 that has plagued the United Kingdom.

According to the BI, foreigners coming from the following countries are temporarily prohibited from entering the Philippines:

(1) United Kingdom
(2) Denmark
(3) Ireland
(4) Japan
(5) Australia
(6) Israel
(7) The Netherlands
(8) Hong Kong SAR
(9) Switzerland
(10)France
(11)Germany
(12)Iceland
(13)Italy
(14)Lebanon
(15)Singapore
(16)Sweden
(17)South Korea
(18)South Africa
(19)Canada
(20)Spain
(21)USA

“Foreigners from the US have been added to the list of those restricted,” said Morente. “However, aliens from the US eligible for entry that arrive prior to January 3 will be allowed to enter but will be referred to the One Stop Shop for an absolute facility-based 14-day quarantine period,” he explained.

Morente clarified that Filipinos who will be arriving from said regions will be allowed to enter, but will likewise be referred for a strict 14-day quarantine.

The BI Chief clarified that in the new ruling, starting January 3, passengers who are merely transiting through any of the countries covered by the ban will be allowed to enter, provided that they stayed in the airport the whole time and were not cleared for entry in the covered country by its immigration authorities.

“Aliens with connecting flights and merely had a layover in the 21 countries may now be allowed to enter if eligible for entry,” said Morente. “But if they left the airport or were cleared for arrival in the 21 countries, then they are prohibited from entering the Philippines,” he added.

Morente added that those who traveled to the 21 countries 14 days prior to their arrival in the Philippines will also be disallowed entry. He stated that aliens not coming from the 21 restricted countries are subject to the existing Inter-Agency Task Force Against Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) guidelines.

BI Port Operations Division Chief Atty. Candy Tan shared that they are on standby to implement any changes in travel policies as set by the IATF and the Office of the President.

“International travel has dropped 79% in 2020, and you could really feel the effects especially during this holiday season,” said Tan. “What used to be a bustling airport during Christmas and new year is now silent and somber. There are still a number of traveling passengers, but not as robust as the numbers that we saw in the past years,” she added.

Tan appealed to the public to bear with the government for implementing the travel restrictions. “These are temporary measures that the government needs to take to prevent the entry of the new strain of Covid-19,” said Tan. “While we are hoping for the revival of confidence in international travel, we are constrained to take these measures for everyone’s safety,” she stated.

All UK flights to PH suspended starting December 24

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved on Tuesday night, December 22, 2020, the temporary suspension of all flights from the United Kingdom (UK) starting December 24, 2020, 12:01AM until December 31, 2020.

All passengers who have been in the UK within fourteen (14) days immediately preceding arrival to the Philippines, including those merely in transit, are also temporarily restricted from entering the country for the same period.

On the other hand, passengers already in transit from the UK and all those who have been to the UK within 14 days immediately preceding arrival to the Philippines, who arrive before 12:01AM of December 24, 2020, shall not be subject to entry restriction but they would be required to undergo stricter quarantine and testing protocols.

Such protocols include the observation of an absolute fourteen (14)-day quarantine period at the Athlete’s Village in the New Clark City, notwithstanding a negative RT-PCR test result.

Outbound travel to the UK shall likewise be subject to the existing exit protocols of the Philippines and the UK. # # #

BI implements new IATF ruling on travel,
allows re-entry of certain diplomats, expats

PASAY, Philippines—Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Jaime Morente announced that they will be implementing the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) Resolution No. 89, allowing the re-entry of certain foreign nationals to the country.

Said resolution, released by the IATF, allows the re-entry of 9(e) and 9(g) visa holders who will leave the country starting December 17.

In an advisory issued yesterday, Morente clarified that not all 9(e) and 9(g) visa holders are allowed to return, following the revised ruling. “Those who have left prior to December 17 are still not allowed to enter the country,” said Morente.

The move would allow said foreign nationals to return to their countries for the holidays, and subsequently re-enter the Philippines after.

According to the BI, 9(e) visa holders are diplomats accredited to the Philippines, including foreign embassies and International Organizations. On the other hand, 9(g) visa holders are pre-arranged employees working in the country.

Port Operations Division Chief Atty. Candy Tan emphasized that while the two categories were allowed to return, their re-entry is still subject to the conditions set by the IATF.

“They must have a valid and existing visa on the date of arrival, a pre-booked quarantine facility and a COVID-19 laboratory at the airport, and they are still subject to the maximum capacity of inbound passengers at the port and date of entry,” said Tan.

While some restrictions have been lifted, the BI said that they do not yet see a major jump in the number of travelers until the yearend. “We have our men on standby ready to service arriving and departing passengers this holiday season,” said Tan. “But the numbers, we believe, will not be as high as it was pre-pandemic,” she shared.

To ensure the smooth implementation on the automation of contact tracing in the entire NAIA Terminals, effective 28 Nov 2020, all airport passengers, and all other airport users are hereby required to download and register an account in the TRAZE CONTACT TRACING mobile app prior to entry in the airport premises.

Procedure is as follows:

1. Download and register in the TRAZE application for the creation of a unique QR code per person.

For those who cannot access the Traze App due to gadget limitations, personnel at the Malasakit help desks will be on hand to assist them in printing a QR code for their use.

Data of users will be stored in a server where information may be derived in case of contact tracing need. Security personnel manning the entry gates and/or on roving duty shall ensure compliance with the above directive while they are within the NAIA complex.
