Sabah Tea is the only organic tea farm in Borneo and one of the few in the world. A trip to the tea garden is both educational and fun, one where visitors can enjoy a variety of recreational activities.

Visitors can opt to stay in a range of accommodation, be it a traditional long house, a cosy bungalow or-those who wish to sleep under the stars, a campsite. Other facilities include an event hall, restaurant, souvenir shop and a soccer field. Freshly-made tea pancakes and Sabah Tea Pandan teh tarik are popular menu items available only at the Tea House.

in 1997 the Sabah State Assembly gazetted the Basin as a Protection Forest Reserve (Class I) with a total area of 588 square kilometres. The region also features Mount Lotung (1667 metres), Maliau Falls, and Lake Linumunsut. Efforts are underway to nominate the area as a World Heritage Site. In 2011, the Maliau Basin Studies Centre opened, a large field centre to serve as a basis for studies and teaching carried out in Maliau by naturalists, biologists, and groups of field course students.

Danum Valley
holds unique status in the sense that before it became a conservation area there were no human settlements within the area, meaning that hunting, logging and other human interference was non existent making the area almost unique.

an extensive diversity of tropical flora and fauna, including such species as the rare East Sumatran rhinoceros, Bornean orangutans, gibbons, mousedeer, clouded leopards and over 270 bird species. Activities offered are jungle treks, river swimming, bird watching, night jungle tours and excursions to nearby logging sites and timber mills.

Spend a day or two in the jungles learning about nature, wildlife and conservation. The park is home to the world’s tallest tropical tree – it’s 96.9m! – as well as the world’s second tallest (it was “dethroned” just last year).

You can find a number of animals here too including the long-tailed macaque, civet cat and leopard cat, as well as birds like the hornbill and kingfisher. If you’re really lucky you might even catch a glimpse of the Borneo pygmy elephant.
