Nashville is a great place for couples, families, friends, and girl's trips to visit.
Visiting there is like stepping into a city with a soul that beats to the rhythm of music and Southern charm. It's famous for its vibrant live music scene and unique blend of history, culture, and modern excitement. Explore legendary spots like the Grand Ole Opry, Broadway's honky-tonks, and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Beyond music, Nashville has a thriving food scene with must-try dishes like Nashville hot chicken, Southern comfort classics, and inventive fare from award-winning chefs. The city is also rich in history, from historic homes and Civil War sites to the full-scale replica of the Parthenon in Centennial Park. For those who love art, Nashville’s street murals and local galleries offer plenty to discover, while nearby parks and the scenic Cumberland River add natural beauty to the experience.

Enjoy the warm hospitality and energetic vibe of Nashville while you dance, dine, learn, relax, and enjoy this destination that has something special for everyone and leaves visitors wanting to come back for more.

Introducing you to the Ga***rd Hotel Opryland in Nashville, one of several Ga***rd properties. It's a beautiful, very large, hotel. The staff was welcoming and helpful, even when I tried to get into a room in the wrong section (did I mention it is a large, multi section hotel?)!! There are maps and plenty of signage around to help you get where you want to go. There was a large conference center and areas for large gatherings. The great thing about the location of the Ga***rd Opryland is that you can walk down a path to get to the Grand Ole Opry! However, you could spend a few days here and not leave if you wanted to! What does it offer you during your stay?
🍽️ restaurants from pizza and burgers to fine dining
☕ coffee shops
🍦 ice cream shop
🛍️ plenty of shopping
🍺 craft tavern
🧖‍♀️ a spa
🏋️‍♂️ a fitness center
👾 arcade
💦🏄 water park
🏊‍♀️ pools
🧊 ICE! winter wonderland for the holidays

The rooms are large and the bed was comfortable. There was a bench at the foot of the bed and computer chair at the desk, but we felt the room was missing an extra comfortable chair. The room was also missing a full length mirror.

The property was truly beautiful with water features and gardens, as well as places to sit, relax, and enjoy it. They were decorating for the holidays while we were there, so everything was extra sparkly and bright. The decorations went up especially early because starting November 8, they open up their winter wonderland of slides, the Polar Express coming to life, and other Christmas activities.

Ga***rd Hotels are part of the Marriott family and other properties include the Ga***rd Palms in Kissemee, Florida; the Ga***rd Rockies in Aurora, Colorado; the Ga***rd National in National Harbor, Maryland; the Ga***rd Texas in Grapevine, Texas; and the Ga***rd Pacific in Chula Vista, California coming in 2025.

Thoughts: This could be a perfect spot for a romantic getaway, a family getaway, a girl's getaway, or even a business trip or conference. Contact me to see if one of the Ga***rd Hotels is what you are looking for!!

The last 24 hours have reminded me to always consider the unexpected happening in travel, to be ready to pivot, and how grateful I am for relationships with both my clients and others in the industry. Me, several of my clients, and a few thousand other people were schedule to board a cruise tomorrow. That cruise was cancelled due to some technical or mechanical issues. I am so grateful the patience of my clients and their trust in me as we walk through this situation together. I have been in contact as much as possible with the cruise line and with other agents who were also affected to gather what information I can get to help my clients. I just kept thinking about that basketball coach running drills yelling "pivot, pivot, pivot". That's what everyone is doing now with this cancellation. I'm also grateful I can take a little pressure off of what can be a stressful situation for my clients. Another good reason to use a travel agent.

To my clients, THANK YOU for trusting me! I am so blessed to be able to know and serve you!

Last week I was on Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas and was able to take a complete tour of Royal Caribbean's private island, Perfect Day at Coco Cay. What a fabulous destination for everyone. One of the great things about a cruise line's private island is that it is an extension of the ship. While there is some specialty dining and areas and activities with a fee just like on the ship; there are plenty of spaces, food, and fun that is included. Your drink package will also carry over to the private island.

There is something for everyone from Chill Island where you can relax and enjoy the clear water and powdery sand to South Beach with volleyball and other lively games and activities. Oasis Lagoon boasts the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean or go enjoy over the water cabanas in the exclusive Coco Beach Club. For an adults only experience, head over to Hideaway Beach or spend the day with your kids having fun at Splashaway Bay. More exciting fun can be had by all at Thrill Waterpark with the tallest waterslide in North America, Devil's Peak; Zip-lining; or going Up, Up, and Away in a hot air balloon.

It's a Perfect destination for a Perfect Day. Enjoy 3 and 4 night cruises from Florida for a quick, unforgettable family getaway!

💭 It's Monday, are you dreaming about where else you'd like to be? Today's destination spotlight is Alaska! Alaska is beautiful and a bucket list destination. Why? Glaciers, National Parks, and wildlife including whales, eagles, and the "big 5": bears, moose, caribou, Dall sheep, and wolves. A cruise of the Inside Passage is the most popular way to visit Alaska. Some cruise lines have access to enter Glacier Bay National Park which is amazing!! You can add on a land tour and spend some time inland and visit Denali National Park. Other ways to travel around Alaska include by rail, on a group tour, or independent travel by car and plane.

🐻 Most cruises stop at several of the following locations: Juneau, Anchorage, Icy Strait Point, Sitka, Skagway, and Ketchikan. In those locations you can enjoy salmon or crab bakes, train rides, whale watching, fishing, cultural celebrations, and more. Land tours in Denali National Park take one of several tours and look for the big 5. Cruises and most land tour options operate from May to October, which is prime time for wildlife viewing and salmon fishing. You can visit some areas of Alaska at other times of the year, especially if you are hoping to see the Northern Lights.

⛰️ Alaska is a popular destination. If it's on your bucket list, contact me now and let's start planning. Some of the best pricing and options are available when you book early. Cruises are open to book through the 2026 season! As a certified Alaska agent, I'm happy to help you with all your Alaska travel adventures!

Toward the end of WWII, the Nazi's started deliberately sinking their ships. Due to the low water levels on the Danube, many of these fully equipped ships have been recovered or surfacing. On our recent river cruise with Avalon on the Lower Danube, we passed one that was recovered and another that was surfacing. Seeing history in real life is one amazing result of travel. I took these pictures of what we saw. Yesterday, the Smithsonian magazine did an article discussing the finding of these ships.

Our last night in Belgrade we went to the Skadarlija, the Bohemian Quarter, for dinner. It was a four course dinner that started with meat, cheese, cornbread, and a red pepper sauce. Next came a salad plate with cabbage, tomatoes, and cucumber. The third dish was traditional meat offerings. Then came the meat plate with Cevapi (little sausages), chicken thigh, and something akin to a mini meatloaf, along with some potato. Lastly, we had a chocolate layer cake.

Many people drank the traditional Rakia, the fruit (often plum) brandy that the Balkans are known for. They say the 40+ proof drink is medicinal and there are many anecdotes about people who have drank it being healed. They also say that after a couple of drinks you don't care too much about your ailments.

Highlight of the evening was the entertainment. A quartet with 2 accordion's, 1 guitar and 1 base played several songs for us. They were so fun to watch and listen to!

Our last stop on our cruise on the lower Danube on Avalon Passion was in Belgrade, Serbia. Belgrade is a large, busy city. It has such a mix of old and new. We spent the morning on a tour where we saw the Belgrade Fortress built in 279 BCE where the Danube and the Sava rivers meet.

We spent a little time on our own in the pedestrian and shopping area of Belgrade where we enjoyed some baklava and other local pastries.

We finished the tour going to one of the largest Orthodox churches in Europe, the Church of Saint Sava. It has the largest mosaic decor in the world. It is so detailed and beautiful.

Ilok, Croatia was our next stop. Jeff and I didn't do anything at this stop except walk up to a neighborhood and get a glimpse of a fortress sitting on the hill. Many of those we were traveling with enjoyed a tour that included some local fare and wine tasting.

We spent some relaxing time on the ship, played cards with friends, and saw locals spending time in the area biking, jogging, and swimming in the Danube.

Our next stop on the River Cruise was Novi Sad, Serbia. We had a tour around the city to see the Petrovaradin Fortress, also known as the Gibraltar of the Danube and is the 2nd largest fortress in Europe. Archeological data shows settlements existed since at least 4500 BC. It has been inhabited by many empires over the years and now houses the Novi Sad City Museum and Archives and hotels, restaurants, the Academy of Arts, several art galleries, a Planetarium and more.

Then we went to the pedestrian area of Novi Sad, visited a couple of churches, learn about where Albert Einstein stayed when he was there, did a little shopping, and had some amazing cheese pastries.
