🎄✨Our final day of Christmas market magic did NOT disappoint! We started our morning in the fairy-tale town of Colmar, getting there early to soak in the festive charm before the crowds arrived. 🏰 Vendors were out in full force for the weekly pop-up local market — so many unique finds beyond the usual Christmas goodies! 🎁🥖

In the afternoon, we hopped on a quick 10-minute train ride to Turckheim 🚆 — and WOW, what a hidden gem! 🥰 This charming Alsatian town had us feeling like we’d stepped into a Christmas dream. Their small Christmas market was all about local love 💚 — handmade wool sweaters, scarves, gloves 🧤🐑, and stunning artisan crafts. Plus, the food? Delicious! 🍷🧀 And don’t miss the life-sized Advent calendar, where they open a new “window” each night to reveal beautiful artwork behind it. Truly magical! 🎨❄️

This trip took us to EIGHT incredible Christmas markets: Cologne, Koblenz, Rüdesheim, Heidelberg, Speyer, Strasbourg, Colmar, and Turckheim. Each one was a festive feast for the senses! 🎅🎄

Day 5 of our European Christmas Market adventure was like stepping straight into a holiday fairytale! 🎄✨ We took the train from Strasbourg to the adorable town of Colmar and checked into our cozy hotel for the next two nights. 🏨

We didn’t waste any time – we headed to the bus stop right away because the front desk told us there’s a free shuttle to the Christmas market every 15 minutes. And, just like magic, this cute little electric bus showed up and whisked us off to the heart of Colmar’s festive wonderland. 🚌🎅

Colmar is something else at Christmas! The half-timbered buildings are decked out in the most creative and beautiful decorations. It feels like the whole town is competing for the “best-decorated” title (and honestly, they all deserve it!). 🏘️✨

What made Colmar even more special? Their Gourmet Christmas Market! Imagine tasting delicious treats from some of the best restaurants in town while strolling through the festive lights and stalls. 😍🧀🍷 Trying out gourmet bites in such a magical setting was the cherry on top of an already amazing day.

Colmar knows how to do Christmas right – the charm, the food, the decorations – it’s all unforgettable. If you ever get the chance to experience it, do it! You won’t regret it. 🎄❤️

🎄✨ Day 4: Magic of Advent in Strasbourg! 🇫🇷

Today, we explored Strasbourg, the Capital of Christmas! 🎅 This enchanting city boasts around 12 Christmas markets scattered through its historic center – from Place Kléber to Petite France. Each market is brimming with festive treats, twinkling lights, and that unmistakable holiday spirit. ❄️🌟

For an extra challenge, we tackled the 330 steps up to the Strasbourg Cathedral’s tower 🏰⛪ (officially the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg). The climb was worth it for the jaw-dropping views of the city! 🌆 The cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, is over 1,000 years old and stands tall at 142 meters.

We’ll explore its stunning stained glass windows tomorrow. 🪟✨

After our climb, we definitely earned some treats! 🥵 Luckily, a vendor near the exit tempted us with warm, sugary beignets – and they were heavenly. 😋🍩

Our river cruise may end tomorrow, but the adventure continues! 🚢🇫🇷 We’ll visit the Strasbourg markets one last time before hopping on a train to Colmar. 🚆🎄 Stay tuned for more Christmas magic!

Day 3 on Our Magic of Advent Cruise with Amadeus River Cruises 🎄🚢

This morning, we docked in Speyer and set off for a tour to Heidelberg, a city bursting with charm and history. 🏰 Our visit to the iconic Heidelberg Castle offered breathtaking views of the Old Town and the Neckar River. After soaking in the castle’s rich history, we wandered through the festive Heidelberg Christmas Market, spread across the town’s squares and adorned with twinkling lights. ✨

I couldn’t resist grabbing my favorite treat — the Kartoffel Twister! 🥔🍟 This spiral-cut potato is fried to perfection and served on a stick, with your choice of toppings. It’s like eating a bag of fresh, crispy potato chips in one go. Sam opted for sautéed champignons in garlic sauce, topped with creamy mayo. 🍄🧄 Absolutely delicious! 🤤

In the afternoon, we explored Speyer, home to the magnificent Speyer Cathedral. ⛪️ This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the largest surviving Romanesque church in Europe, and its crypt — the resting place of several emperors — is steeped in history. Afterward, we strolled through Speyer’s Christmas Market along Maximilianstrasse, enjoying the festive stalls and holiday cheer. 🎁🎶

We returned to the ship at dusk, tired but elated after an incredible day. 🌅 This was our last stop in Germany, and tomorrow, we sail into the capital of Christmas — Strasbourg! 🇫🇷🎅

So much fun today visiting Christmas 🎄 markets in Germany🇩🇪.

In the morning, we arrived in Koblenz, a delightful town located where the Moselle meets the Rhine River. While the markets were not yet open, we had plenty of time to walk around and do some sightseeing.

In the afternoon, we sailed through the Middle Rhine, a UNESCO World Heritage area, known for the many castles that dot the river banks.

In the evening, we arrived in Rüdesheim am Rhein. The markets were open and the town all lit up for Christmas🎄. We enjoyed a Rüdesheimer coffee, a delicious concoction caramelized Asbach brandy and sugar to which they add espresso, whipped cream, and chocolate sprinkles. Yum! If that wasn’t enough, we just had to have a chimney cake.

Tomorrow, we’re visiting Heidelberg and Speyer.
