Thinking of traveling the Dalton Highway?

You'll start in Fairbanks and drive little over 500 miles to get to Prudhoe Bay. It's a gorgeous drive with high chances of seeing wildlife like, MuskOx, Caribou and more.

But! Be sure to plan ahead.

👉 Take your camera!
👉 The road is heavily traveled by truckers year round.
👉 After you hit Coldfoot (midway point) there will be no more services until you reach Prudhoe or Deadhorse, which is right next to Prudhoe Bay. So, be sure to get gas at Coldfoot (you can even stay the night if you want) and get some food.
👉 Carry extra car supplies that you may need incase you run into any issues. It is quite a long way to drive on a bumpy road.
- As always, please drive careful and watch out for bicyclists and truckers.

Do you know what a Dry Cabin is? A dry cabin means there is no running water, which means you'll find an outhouse, and will need to haul your own water in, bring propane etc. Though others who have stayed at these cabins will sometimes leave propane and even some chopped wood for your fir! Many of the cabins in the Alaska mountains are dry cabins. It's an experience and it is quite fun!

Are you going to be looking for the "Christmas Star" tonight? This is the big conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter to where they look like theyʻre one big bright star. The last time this was seen was in March 1226!

It's been a difficult year for a lot of us. Allow yourself a moment today to think of a few things you're thankful for. Are you seeing your family in person? If so, that could be something great to honor. Seeing them on Zoom? That's good too, at least you can call them and see them (even if it's virtually). It's ok if you feel like you need to dig deep to find something to be thankful for. It could also be as simple as having food to eat today. 🧡

Wishing you a wonderful day.

Fairbanks is currently getting around five-ish hours of sunlight.

According to a Travel Channel article, Fairbanks is one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights, as we just sit about the Auroral Circle! (We tend to agree that itʻs the best place 😉). The lights have been quite spectacular lately, which means that itʻs a great time to come aurora chase!

Let us know if you need some tips on shooting the aurora, we can help!

Now, thatʻs a big bear.

The Earl of Avoirdupois, bear 747, is crowned 2020’s Champion!

He will celebrate by waddling away from the river and enjoying a comfortable hibernation.

747 would like to thank the salmon for such high concentrations of fat, the clean cold water of the Brooks River for being a fabulous host, and all the little bears he pushed out of the way to gain access to the best fishing spot of them all.

Happy Hibernation!

Itʻs National Coffee Day...what a glorious day! Even though a lot of us take part of enjoying a cup of coffee on a daily basis, itʻs always good to have another excuse to think about and drink coffee! If youʻre in Fairbanks, thereʻs so many great coffee shops to grab yourself a cup...or two. I mean, itʻs also fall and crisp outside, so grab a warm coffee and enjoy the season! 🍂🍁

Check this out, the best coffes come out of Alaska?! You betcha, according to this 2017 Paste Magazine article.

https://www.pastemagazine.com/drink/coffee/the-best-coffees-coming-out-of-alaska/

While it’s not the first state you think of when specialty coffee comes to mind, the Last Frontier is not to be overlooked. The coffee culture of the Pacific Northwest made its way to Alaska in a big way.
