Crêpes in France, pönnukökur in Iceland, crepas in Mexico, or krep in Turkey... Do you know the origins of these thin, folded pancakes, that typically come with something rolled or folded inside?

In addition to savoring great skiing, wine & cheese, guests on Lumi's France trip this winter will get to taste crêpes traditional to the Jura: a savory crêpe with Comté cheese - the region's local specialty. A couple of photos from our ski in Seefeld's Leutasch Valley yesterday on Sunday, September 15. A rainy week brought up to several feet of snow at higher elevations for excellent early season skiing. No grooming and it will likely all melt, but it was a fun way to kick off the winter!

Huge congrats to 5x Lumi guests Laurel and Kevin at this weekend's Merino Muster! 🎉🥇Laurel is now a Worldloppet Master after winning the 42 km skate race (her 10th Worldloppet!) for the U70 age group... not many people get to stand on a podium with Julia and Jessie 🤩

It wasn't the first time Laurel and Kevin celebrated with these two star skiers -- swipe to see Julia and Jessie with Laurel, Kevin and other Lumi guests at the World Championships in Planica, Slovenia when they won bronze in the team sprint! Also 📸: Laurel enjoying an Italian Bombardino after the World Champs races in Slovenia and Laurel on Lumi's Norway Birken-trip. Congrats Laurel & Kevin!

Estonia & Finland have the same melody for their national anthems! If you're watching the Olympics and there's both a Finnish champion and an Estonian champion on top of the podium, they will each have the same anthem played for them, though they’ll be singing different lyrics, of course.

Among the Swiss Alps, St. Moritz, Switzerland in the Engadin Valley has the oldest Olympic bobsled run that's still in use. It was built in 1904 and used for the Winter Olympics they hosted in 1928 and 1948. Interestingly, it's also the last remaining bobsled run that's hand packed with snow every winter.

Of Lumi trip destinations, Seefeld, Austria has hosted the most number of Olympic games. The Winter Olympics have been in Seefeld three times - in 1964, 1976, and in 2012 for the Youth Olympic Winter Games. Seefeld has also hosted a number of World Championship and World Cup events. Coincidently, St. Moritz is the only other Lumi trip destination that has hosted two Olympic games. It's been 52 years since the first U.S. women's cross-country ski team competed in the Winter Olympics in Sapparo, Japan in 1972. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of this important milestone, women who skied for Team USA in the Olympics contributed to and published a book that highlights the incredible journeys of these skiers: Trail to Gold. The Australian rowing national team trains at a lake at the Falls Creek ski resort in Australia. Home to the annual Kangaroo Hoppet ski marathon, Falls Creek is a special place to ski this time of where when it's winter in the southern hemisphere.
