The Lantern Festival is the culmination of Chinese New Year festivities. This year's Lantern Festival takes place on Feb. 5. It's also the first full moon of the new lunar new year & the traditional day to eat sweet rice balls, set off fireworks and watch dragon and lion dances.

The multi-day CNY celebrations are aimed at promoting good fortune, happiness, family unity & harmony expressed in symbolic ways. The 3rd day of the 1st lunar month (1/24/23) is the time to relax & stay home. In southern China, visiting family & friends on this day is taboo as it could lead 2 quarrels.
