You know that old saying that once you have kids vacations are no longer vacations and they become trips? It is just parenting in a new location!
Iâve absolutely had exhausting experiences like that but Iâve also had some pretty great vacations with my kids. For me, it comes down to planning and what we are doing. If I want (by want I mean need) to relax, then I need to plan for that.
For our family a relaxing vacation with kids = a cruise.
Regardless of what cruise line we choose - Disney, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean... My kids are totally entertained and occupied đ¤Š. On Disney cruises, they get to see the characters. On Norwegian or Royal Caribbean they have insane activities like go-carts and surfing. On some cruise lines we get the same waiter every night at our set dinner time who knows my oldest wonât go for anything with red meat, my middle child loves to try something new and my youngest doesnât like anything new đ¤ˇââď¸, and more importantly has my glass of wine just waiting for me when we get there. Even on more free-flowing cruises the waitstaff always goes above and beyond to make sure we all have the perfect, relaxing meal every time!
Did I mention that they ALL have kids' clubs that my kids actually want to go to? My husband and I get to have a drink by the pool and finish a whole conversation uninterrupted.
So hereâs my unsolicited advice. Donât take trips. Take vacations and donât wait until your kids are older for it. Relax with them now!
