Girne, often referred to as a tourist paradise, is a rare and ideal place for a relaxing holiday. The restaurants and bars surrounding its horseshoe shaped Old Harbour serve tourists in a unique atmosphere. This tiny harbour, full of yachts and fishing boats, is framed by the colossal hulk of its Crusader castle.

With the backdrop of the jagged mountains behind and the calm sparkling sea in front, the harbour has an intoxicatingly serene atmosphere. The graceful arc of the harbourside is filled with the tables of restaurants and cafés, ideal for sitting back and simply watching the world go by. The former carob warehouses have been converted into restaurants and shops, giving the harbour a bustling lively feel without feeling rushed or crowded.

From the Assyrians to the Egyptians, the Persians to the Romans, Cyprus has seen hordes of visitors disembark on her shores over the centuries – each leaving their distinctive mark on the varied landscape.
It was in the early to Middle Bronze Ages that saw the emergence of towns and trading centres, which helped build relationships with the surrounding nations. This period was followed by occupation by many Middle Eastern countries, but it was when Persian rule was overthrown by King Evagoras that the Salamis region was able to strengthen its commerce and grow wealthy. This growth trend continued through Hellenistic and Roman rule, however, when the Roman Empire’s grip began to loosen and trade began to dwindle, fortunes were only reversed when the Byzantine Empire took control of the island and restored the province to its former glory.
The next 500 years or so saw the island change hands through Richard the Lionheart, the French Lusignan family, the Ottomans and the Venetians. In the mid-19th century the Suez Canal was opened, so to protect the trade route to India, Britain took a vested interest in the strategically located island, which saw many new roads, pipelines, crop irrigation and railways being built. This alliance continued well into the 20th century with Cyprus’s independence being declared in 1960. This series of events lead to North Cyprus declaring its independence from the south in 1974.

❇️ Buffavento Kalesi) is a castle in Northern Cyprus. The exact date of its construction remains unknown, the most plausible theory being the Byzantine period. It combines Byzantine and Frankish architectural elements. It fell into disuse in the 14th century ❇️.

The Weather in Cyprus throughout the Year
Cyprus may only be the third largest island in the Mediterranean, but it is certainly the hottest and sunniest. With an average 326 sunshine days each year for the island as a whole, this truly is a paradise for everyone seeking that 'SUN LOVING LIFE-STYLE'.
The year starts about half-way through what can be called the rainy season, which lasts from November until early March. Winters in Cyprus are short and mild with snow being a virtually unknown phenomenon in the coastal regions.
Spring starts early, with temperatures beginning to rise noticably towards the end of February. At this stage, the weather in Cyprus leaves behind the winter's rains and sunshine becomes an almost permanent feature on this beautiful island. The beginning of May usually sees a couple of weeks of windy weather with fresh spring breezes blowing in from the sea.
By the end of May, average temperatures begin to climb towards the more summery levels until they reach their apex during July and August. The summery temperatures tend to last until well into September and rain is almost unheard of during the summer months.
Although most locals consider the 20th of September to be the date when the hot summer temperatures first begin to break, the weather in Cyprus stays pleasantly warm until much later than this. Even as late as the end of October, it is still possible to sit outside during the evenings without the need for a jacket or even a jumper.
The dividing line between autumn and winter is somewhere around the middle of November, when temperatures begin to drop noticably and the rainy season sets in again, announcing the coming of winter.

North Cyprus ; Extraordinary, enjoyable, mystic, spiritual and peaceful holiday environment for you any season of the year. Cyprus, third biggest island of the Mediterranean.

North Cyprus location is at the crossroads of Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa. Closest neighbouring locations are Turkey, South Cyprus, Lebanon, Greece, Egypt, Israel and Syria. Its coasts are approximately 396 km long with a unique blend of beaches, plains and mountains. Moreover, with its historical past and location, Northern Cyprus is in many ways a surprising synthesis between eastern and western cultures; and with its rich multicultural heritage, in every part of the country you will find ancient monuments and sites that belongs to more than 11 thousand years of civilisation and history makes the country exceptionally beautiful.

Six different areas in North Cyprus are becoming part of the Natura-2000 of the EU. In addition to Natura 2000, there are more than 20 turtle nesting shores in Northern Cyprus. Also, sandy beaches and endemics and wild donkeys are main attractions for the IFF. There are many monuments from Byzantine Period (AD 324-1119), Early Frankish Period (1191-1192), Lusignan Kingdom (1192-1489), Genoese Occupation (City of Famagusta) (1373-1464), Venetian Colonial Rule (1489-1571), Ottoman Period (1571-1878), British Colonial Rule (1878-1960). Especially one could see all of the signs of those civilisations in the city of Famagusta.
