Stay in an historic home in Waldoboro, Maine while you enjoy everything Maine has to offer, no matter the season. You can kayak the coastline in summer, view the stunning fall foliage in late September, or go snow-shoeing in winter. There are always activities for nature, art and food lovers, no matter the season. Tucked within the Maine coastline are beautiful villages to breathtaking waterfronts
. Waldoboro is a haven for foodies with abundant fresh seafood, farm-to-table produce, cheeses and more. Ben Schuyler, a photographer with a popular nature Instagram feed, says, "“(Maine) is very different from any other place in the world. You don’t really get it until you see it. It’s pretty special.”
We fell in love with Waldoboro when we visited for the first time in 2017. Within a year, our daughter and son-in-law had purchased their first home in near by Friendship, Maine (how quaint, right?) after living in NY for several years. In 2019, we decided to purchase our own place as a short term vacation rental. We lovingly renovated the home, built in the 1850's, keeping the charm and character while improving the comfort and livability for our guests. One of our favorite things about staying here is the utter silence at night and the brightness of the stars. Waking up to a misty field where wild turkeys venture in the early mornings. There is a bedroom located on the lower level, perfect for those who prefer not to traverse many stairs. The other two bedrooms and half bath are located on the second floor. Skylights bring natural light to the space and will help rejuvenate you during your visit. While we enjoy the local dining establishments, like Moody's Diner, we also love cooking fresh meals at home. There are so many choices for locally grown produce, meats and seafood, you'll want to enjoy at least one meal in the charming kitchen. We've made sure everything you might need to prepare a meal is available. We even tested this on our extended visit last winter. From a lobstah' pot to a slow cooker, dishes for adults and smaller kiddos, and all the utensils you might need, it's here! If you have questions about the Heyer House or the local area, please message us. We love introducing others to this relaxing get-away.
