Civil and animal rights activist, author, actor, and film producer. Dr. Martin L King's youngest son, Dexter Scott King has transitioned at the age of 62.

Dexter Scott King, the youngest son of Coretta and Martin Luther King Jr. has died. The King Center announced Monday afternoon that he died earlier in the day after a “valiant battle with prostate cancer.”

DID YOU KNOW.....

Woodson envisioned a weeklong celebration to encourage the coordinated teaching of Black history in public schools. He designated the second week of February as Negro History Week and galvanized fellow historians through the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History, which he founded in 1915.

Dr. Carter G. Woodson created Black history week the 2nd week of February in 1926 to coincide with the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass.

In 1976 it became Black history month.
