Are You Planning A Trip To Europe?
The new Entry/Exit System (EES) will change the way we travel across the EU and will have a significant impact on travel to, and within the EU.
What is the EES?
It's an initiative designed to digitally record the entry, exit and any denial of entry of non-EU travellers visiting the continent for short stays (up to 90 days within any 180 day period)
It will replace the manual stamping of passports with an automated system that captures the biometric data of all travellers. ( a facial image and four fingerprints)
This data along with the date and place of entry and exit will be stored on a central database accessible to the relevant migration and border authorities.
As the UK is no longer part of the EU, British holidaymakers will need to use the new system when visiting Schengen Area Countries.

When you think of American Cities you mostly think New York, Las Vegas, Boston, LA, San Francisco and Chicago but Pittsburgh has so much to offer.
Did you know:-
Heinz ketchup was created in Pittsburgh in 1876 and you can visit The Heinz History Centre.
Broadway shows are often staged in Pittsburgh to test the market before relocating to New York.
The city hosts the USA's largest museum dedicated to a single artist. The Andy Warhol Museum was named after the pop artist born in Pittsburgh as Andrrw Warhola Jr.
There are numerous green spaces and riverside footpaths making it ideal for combining outdoor activities with urban sightseeing. You can rent a bike, join a bike tour or go kayaking.
Pittsburgh has more than 40 breweries!
It has 446 bridges giving it the nickname The City Of Bridges!

Important Info To Be Aware Of:

EU officials have confirmed that Britons travelling to Europe next summer will need to apply for a visa waiver.

The visa waiver will cost €7 for people aged 18-70. There will be no charge for children and those over 70.

It will last for three years, or until the holder’s passport expires, whichever comes first.

Passengers will apply online or via a mobile app and most applications will be approved within minutes, say officials, although they have warned it might take up to 72 hours or even up to a month for more complex cases.

As part of the application process, ‘full disclosure’ is required regarding an applicant’s background, including travel history and any criminal record.

EU Home Affairs Minister Ylva Johansson said the visa waiver, officially called the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) will follow the implementation of the automated EU Entry/Exit System (EES), which she has confirmed will launch on 10 November 2024 following years of delays.

She said introduction of the ETIAS will follow six months later, meaning it should be in place by mid-May 2025.

When the EES comes into force in the autumn, travellers with non-EU passports, including those travelling on British passports, will need to register their fingerprint and have their photo taken the first time they cross the border.

The new system is expected to lead to delays on arrival at EU airports and ports as it will take border guards up to two minutes longer to process each passenger.
