I love makeovers- especially when its in my own place. For years the Parlor Apartment bathroom I did the best I could with the do-it-yourself addition that came with the building.
I finally was able to correct it so it fits with the rest of the apartment. This is what I did:
1) replaced linoleum floors to marble basketweave design
2) raised the bathroom ceiling and walls from 7' to 11' high
3) replaced old tract lighting with hanging schoolhouse lights
4) clad the walls with subway tile and gray grout
5) replaced hollow core door and cheap doorframe with
130 year old door and frame from the original building
6) added vintage door set to bathroom door
7) raised the height of the baseboard considerably by copying and installing the same type molding as the living room baseboards
