Wow! What a great way to start the 2024 sailing season with our Annual Chili Dog fun race and chili competition. A huge Thank You to Patty and Mickey Duvall for hosting! We also want to thank Mickey and Dinger for a great race committee, Kellie, Michael, Grover, and everyone else who helped behind the scenes to make this a great time.

We had a respectable nine boats compete in the race with all boats finishing within eight minutes of one another. We had 10 phenomenal chilis entered in the chili competition. There were lots of "good thing" trophies to award each of the sailing competitors, lol. Congratulations to Avocet for a first place win, as well as Scott Bedenbaugh, Buzz, and Tony as the top three finishers of the chili competition. It's going to be a great year!

We're looking forward to seeing everyone at the Annual Spring Meeting on 08 March 2024. Mark your calendar and bring a friend to introduce to the club.

Please join us in congratulating Fort Walton Yacht Club for arising as victors of the 2023 Bay Challenge Cup Regatta! FWYC brought six boats to compete against BBSC’s five in a windward/leeward regatta. The winds were consistently inconsistent throughout the day, but we all had a great and fair day of competitive sailing. In the final tally, FWYC walked away with the Cup. Next year, BBSC will go challenge them to take it back! Special thanks to Craig Shipley for suppling the Race Committee boat/party barge, RAMSTY for coordinating PRO duties and scoring, John Farris for supplying a mark set boat and expertise, and Fort Walton's top notch race committee team for executing a well run race!

We had beautiful blue skies and a great turnout for Saturday’s Double Handed race. Congratulations to our winners in each class: X-CLASS - HumDinger (1st), Parley (2nd), and Kahlua (3rd) and SPINNAKER CLASS – Epiphany (1st), Avocet (2nd), and Mud Hen (3rd). Thank you to James Boykin and Roy Byrd for serving as our race committee this weekend. Great job!

Remembering and Celebrating Tom Kennedy - Saturday, August 26th

Arrangements have been made for our late Rear Commodore’s funeral and a celebration of life. They will be this coming Saturday, August 26th.

Funeral, followed by prayer of blessing from Father Steven Voit - 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home, in Niceville

Celebration of Life - 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Bluewater Bay Marina Pavilion

Food served at 3 pm

Summer heat? Doesn’t matter. Wednesday evenings are for sailing, and what a fun sail it was! Congratulations to Mudbug for being first to round the mark (to port) and to our international comrades on the 420 for being first to finish. (It may be time for a refresher on the WNFR rules….🤣). Either way, it was a great time and we’re already looking forward to next Wednesday.
