Day 8 - Vail, CO to Breckenridge, CO
Another beautiful day in Colorado! We started out day with breakfast in a deli in “The Village” in Vail. We then went back the the lodge we were staying at to take in the eclipse. We packed up, then headed to Breckenridge. The mountain in Breckenridge has a lot more snow on it which is a huge plus. The more snow the better as long as we’re down here and it’s up high still. It’s been a great day strolling through Historic Downtown Breckenridge. There are so many shops to go into.
We are going to wind this evening down sitting beside a nice, warm fire.
Day 7 - Jackson Hole, WY to Steamboat Springs & Vail, CO. Today’s travels has been an absolute adventure. There were so many things that happened today to make this trip so memorable. We missed our turn and things took off from there. We had to drive 30 minutes back to where we started from because we were afraid the GPS would lose signal and we didn’t want to be somewhere without cell service. Well, if we would have only known we would have to drive 2 hours with no one around, not one person , then, we got to the Colorado state line and it was a gravel road. A 22 mile gravel road! Did we turn around? Nope. We had already committed with the two hour we spent to getting there. Up and down hills, turns, mountains, valleys (and I’m not being dramatic), it was nuts! We saw some beautiful country but was sure glad to get back to blacktop. We laughed until I cried (wheezed if you know me )😉😊 I can’t imagine how today could have ended any better. And it ended in none other than Vail! By the way, I said I figured since we were in Death Valley (which we weren’t, I was being dramatic) I really would have appreciated seeing a tumbleweed. Well, you’ll see… 😉😂
I hope you guys are enjoying the photos from our little get away.
Day 5 - Grand Tetons and a little Yellowstone. Today has been great with some amazing sights, and Old Faithful did not disappoint. Unfortunately, It’s been very gloomy so I wasn’t able to get some of the pics I really wanted to get. Tomorrow may be an in town kind of day as maybe just stay in the cabin, apparently there’s a snow storm coming in. 🥶 We may try again Friday… maybe the weather will break and we can get some sunshine!😊.
Day 4- Moab, UT to Jackson Hole, WY.
Oh my, what a day… There cannot be enough said about this countryside. It doesn’t matter how many pics you take, it’s just not the same as seeing it in person. The landscape is absolutely breathtaking. It was roughly 8.5 hrs from Moab to Jackson Hole, and I have to say I have never had time pass so quickly. There was so much to see it seemed as though we had only been on the road for a few hours.
This is a trip that’s definitely going down in the books. If you have ever wanted to take a trip out west, DO IT! I would love to help you with planning it. 😉
We got a good laugh when I saw a great photo op an just whipped over on the side of the road, bailed out of the car, didn’t even close the door I was so excited. It looked like the perfect “drive it like you stole it” moment.!😂
Day 1 Denver. After a short train ride from Denver airport, we arrived at Union Station. Walking only a couple of blocks we arrived at our hotel, which was amazing. I think I could have spent a couple days just enjoying the hotel itself. A hotel with Starbucks and a two story book store! McGregor square is where we spent the evening dining and watching football with folks who gather there to simply enjoy the beautiful night weather and some Colorado football. This football girl wouldn’t have wanted to spend the night any other way. The stadium right outside our hotel window is Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies.
The sunrise from the hotel is gorgeous!!! And even better from the rooftop pool that Is temperature controlled so you can enjoy every season in Denver.
Now, on to the Rocky Mountaineer…
