Today is Bella 1st anniversary’s of her Gotcha day! We have enjoyed her so much and have not regretted one moment of bringing her into our lives.

When she was rescued she was malnourished and afraid. Dr Adriana cared for her and nursed her back to health.

Now she is the center of attention and no longer shy or afraid. We look forward to many more happy years together ❤️

It’s been a busy week so here are a few pics to catch up with us. We celebrated a birthday last week for Gerardo’s mom. The mariachi’s came and sang for her. It was a lot of fun. It was fun to do a little cake, coconut with mango filling.

Our habanero has turned into a tee and the fruit trees have lots of fruit, limes, mandarins, oranges, lemons, sweet lemons, cocoa pods etc. We have 4 new bundles of bananas and 9 pineapple in different stages of development.

Thursday was Mother’s Day here in Costa Rica and I received so beautiful flowers from our adopted family.

Yesterday we had a houseful of friends. We were celebrating Gerardo’s (on the 21st) and my (on the 28th) birthdays. We had a domino tournament , lots of laughs and good food. Mardy and I prepared chicken and pineapple burgers, and a coconut cake with lime filling, a first for our Tico friends.

A little survey of the gardens revealed 2 more new pineapples and 3 bundles of bananas starting. We also planted several Nampi (potatoe like root veggie) which are doing quite well despite the rain.

Excited to see several hibiscus open at one time and a new glad will be open soon too.

Yesterday was our 49th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful day with special friends who were also celebrating their anniversary.

We went to Uvita, walked in the rain along the beach. We saw a baby sloth, howler monkeys and for the first time we saw rainbow eucalyptus trees. Great lunch at a Chinese food restaurant in Uvita.

We had a beautiful sunset tonight. The way our property is situated we don’t often see the colors of the sunset.

My pink hibiscus is blossoming again. The ground is so fertile here. Our hibiscus was getting so big so Mardy trimmed it back, stuck those trimmings in the ground and today the new plant blossomed.

I was trimming up the bird of paradise and found this little white frog hiding in the leaves .

Full moon lit up this bush that has the most amazing fragrance.

This Bauhinia tree has the prettiest blossoms. we planted it about 3 months ago, I always think of orchids when I see these.

My gladiolas are starting to blossom as well. Can’t wait to see what colors we get this year.

We just cut our last ripe pineapple so we are excited to see a new one starting. Now we only have to wait 7 months or so !!! Hoping to see more soon. We have had 7 in the last 3 months. They take approximately 1.5 - 2 years to produce fruit.

Today making coconut limeade and eating fresh is papaya.

Checked in on my cocoa pods and they are getting bigger too! Can’t wait this will be our first harvest.

Papayas are just about ready to pick. My hibiscus are blooming again too.

These purple flowers have taken over. We pulled a single flower out of the ditch and planted it last year. It self seeds and has gone a little wild.

My cocoa tree has lots of pods on it. I’m so excited, we made chocolate when Mike and Daniela came to visit. I’m looking forward to making more.

Panama lemons, lobster claws, star fruit blossoms. The beautiful little butterfly loves my red cosmos.

Last photo. The papaya trees have gotten so big. We have two different kinds of papaya growing, they are still green but looking forward to them getting ripe.

It’s so cool to be able to go and cut down your own pineapple, bananas, oranges, limes, mandarins, etc and to make hot sauce with habaneros from your garden. We have never really been gardeners but are really enjoying this.

Between the fruit trees, pineapple and the flower gardens we keep busy most every day. A couple hours work and then relax!

My pagoda flower has really filled out. It’s very unique as are so many of the flowers here. April 24 is the first pic and the second is May 18th.

These beautiful purple orchids are growing on a big stump and apparently blossom all year round.

The white orchids are growing in the manga tree and just opened up a couple days ago.

The amaryllis and Cana lilies are gorgeous too.

Miss Bella had a friend, Mancha, come to visit.

Limeade and coconut juice coming up shortly.

Our papayas are getting a little bigger and another pineapple will be ready to harvest soon.

If you can call a bug beautiful- I’d say this guy fits the bill.

Yesterday we visited some friends farm. They have 2 unique trees - often called the walking tree. These are the roots and apparently the tree actually moves.

Picked another mango today 723 grams, can’t wait to taste it. The others have been so tasty.

On Sunday I took a picture of blue-gray tanager momma and babies. Today the babies are out flying already and their feathers have already changed color.

The nest is in the top of the bamboo under the carport. Baby flew and landed on the car.

They are so pretty.

Today was an eventful day. We had a very tall tree we needed to cut part way down. These guys are amazing with the machete. Here’s a couple videos to show how it went down.

It’s an exciting day at Casa Beamo. Today we harvested the first pineapple from our garden. Our apples are starting to grow big and turn red, we have many on the tree. We are looking forward to making fresh apple sauce and juice.

We had a few trees removed a couple weeks ago. It’s amazing to see what they can do with a machete. Timber!!!!!

Rodeo in Pejibaye about 15 minutes from Casa Beamo “Look mom no hands” they have them twice a year here!
