A Suggested Itinerary for Our Guests - #4 Staying In

Everyone loves a good lounging day. Here’s how we would spend one. We’d start off with a nice cup of coffee from the Doghouse. We’d head out with it for an early morning walk. Hopefully, we’d choose a day when the Leesville Main Street's 3rd Street Market is taking place, and we would grab our breakfast (maybe a fresh loaf or some seasonal fruit) and take it back to the Doghouse. This would probably be a good time to relax and catch up on a new book. Time flies when you’re...relaxing? It’s already lunchtime. We feel like take-out, and it’s either StarLite Grill or Thadapetch...oh, the decisions! But, before we pick up our lunch, we need to stop by Duhon & Son's Meat Processing / Meat Market to select our dinner for the evening. Fresh flowers from The Flower Girl are definitely in order for the lovely night we are planning. Next stop, Market Basket for veggies, dessert, and drink of choice. All items are accounted for and it’s back to the Doghouse for more relaxation. Now for that wonderful dinner we have been planning. Finally, we will top it off by kicking back and watching a good movie. Sweet dreams, world.

A Suggested Itinerary for Our Guests - #3 A Little Farther Out

The Front Porch calling your name. Fresh coffee and maybe a quick game of checkers before heading to the lake. Vernon Lake is a local favorite for great fishing, just don't let the gators get your catch. And make sure you have your Louisiana fishing license on you. You could easily spend all morning here enjoying the beautiful Louisiana scenery. Ready for lunch? Less than 5 minutes back toward town, you’ll be surprised by how delicious the deli lunches are at the Anacoco Mercantile. Or head to Big John’s Country Kitchen in Hornbeck (try the fish)! Don’t take our word for it, give it a try for yourself. Of course, you have to do a little shopping while in Anacoco. Our go-to is Ruby D's. If you like antiques and unique finds, this place is not to be missed. Head back out of town toward Tidbits & Tackle to pick up your items for dinner because this evening is going to end with a sunset picnic at Toledo Bend Lake Country. Site 7, or anywhere near that is open to the public, makes for wonderful sunsets. And, if the days are warm enough, typically May – October, you can jump in for a swim. It’s been a great day but now it’s time to head back to the Doghouse for a nice evening’s rest.

A Suggested Itinerary for Our Guests - #2 Out and About

Hop in your vehicle and head in town toward BJ's Family Diner. You’ll be able to find a good breakfast to start your morning. You’ll be sure to find all the locals here. Pre-book a refreshing facial at Perfectly Polished Day Spa to aid in preparing you for your exciting day. Or, get a new look from one of the ladies at Studio 101 Hair Salon, LLC. Now that you are freshened up, may we suggest a little shopping? Try Nichols- Many Leesville Winnfield Coushatta. From the cutest trends to all your hunting and fishing needs, this place has it all! Ok, all that shopping has worked up an appetite. It’s time for lunch! Try one of the many food trucks we have around town. Two of our faves are The G. Biscuit and Kai’s Island Grill. Post lunch, how about a matinee? Lee Hills Cinema Six shows all of the latest movies, and during the summer, they offer $2 family films. After your show, you may be feeling like it’s time for a nap. I mean why not? Before you begin relaxing at the Doghouses, stop by Back To Nature, Inc. for a smoothie or a cup of coffee, and maybe some healthy midnight snacks. Now chill until you are ready to go again. Looking for a delicious dinner? It’s Wagon Master Steakhouse for a big juicy steak, or Hana Leesville for Hibachi and/or sushi. Sounds like a fantastic day to us!

A Suggested Itinerary for Our Guests - #1 A Day Downtown

Start your morning with breakfast at Cuore Coffee. Be sure to ask about their lunch specials while you are there...their specials never disappoint. After breakfast, check across the street to see if you can catch the Museum of West Louisiana being open. If it isn’t open on the day you are visiting, here’s a hint: cachers, search around. Heading back North on 3rd Street, stop in at Thumb Print Boutique or Honey + Ink and find something good for yourself. Next, be sure to check out the Vernon Veterans Memorial Park. Do you have any loved ones listed? After all this exploring, it’s probably time for a nice lunch. Hazel's Tea Parlor is definitely a great option! Soups, salads and sandwiches...and don’t forget the extensive tea list. But if you’re craving Louisiana flavors, we’d suggest ordering the Crawfish Bisque. Post-lunch fun may consist of you wanting to work some of those good eats off. Plan ahead and try scheduling a class at West La Jujutsu Training Academy or Ground Zero Boxing. Hopefully, you’ve considered those muscles and have pre-booked a soothing massage at Aymond Medical Spa. Now that you’ve worked up a sweat and have been pampered, it may be a good time to head back to the Doghouse and enjoy a refreshing shower and get ready for the evening! Check out The Gallery One Elllven by Leesville Art . If you’re lucky, you’re visiting during a new art opening. The Gallery has amazing events. Once you have taken in all the inspiring art, cross the street and head over to Brenda's Kitchen Puerto Rican Cousine for dinner. Their fruit juices and traditional dishes are wonderful! Be sure to ask if the Beer Garden is open. Sometimes, you can sit out back and listen to live music being played at the Leesville Polk Outdoor Stage. Top it off with a treat from Joe Reds Coffee. Our fave is the affogato! Joe’s is open Tuesdays and Thursdays, and some Fridays. Finish off the evening by grabbing a good read from one of the many Vernon Parish Book Nooks. You’ll be sure to see them as they are beautifully painted and sprinkled around Downtown. Now sit back and relax!

Welcome to the newest member of the pack, Doghouse #3! We spent the night testing it out for our guests. We started our evening off with a nice 😉 Then we spent some time choosing the correct mood lighting…what’s your opinion? And topped it off with our morning coffee and walk Downtown to find a book in one of the Vernon Parish Book Nooks. We ended up finding a book and Cars & Coffee event!

We approve of the stay and can’t wait to list it! Stay tuned 🙂
