Trees here change their color | Manali Local Sightseeing | Manali Road Trip EP3

This video is the third part of our Manali Road Trip in which I talked about our return from Sissu and Manali local sightseeing.

Places covered in this video are
1) Sissu
2) Atal Tunnel Rohtang
3) Manali Mall Road
4) Log huts
5) Hidimba Devi Temple
6) Naggar Castle
7) Club House Manali

I also talked about other places in Manali like Manali Nature Park, Monastery, Manu Maharaj Temple etc.

We started from Sissu in the evening and reached Atal Tunnel in almost no time. However, traffic jam started after we entered Atal Tunnel till Manali. We reached Manali very late in night.

The next day we changed our hotel. We were staying in HPTDC Hotel Kunzam located on Mall Road. We booked HPTDC Hotel Log Huts for today. So we checked out from current hotel and checked in in Log Huts. Log Huts is located near Hidimba Devi temple around 1.5 KMs away from the busy Mall road in a quite and scerene place. The hut we booked comprises of 2 bed rooms, 1 seating area and a fully equiped kitchin including gas, gas stove and utencils.

After checking in we visited Hidimba Devi temple which was around 300 meters from Log Huts. We went there by walking.

Hidimba Devi Temple, locally known as Dhungari Temple, also known variously as the Hadimba Temple. It is an ancient cave temple dedicated to Hidimbi Devi, wife of Bhima, a figure in the Indian epic Mahabharata. The temple is surrounded by a cedar forest called Dhungiri Van Vihar at the foot of the Himālayas. The sanctuary is built over a huge rock jutting out of the ground which was worshiped as an image of the deity. The structure was built in 1553 by Maharaja Bahadur Singh. The Hidimba Devi temple is 24 meters tall.

After that we visited Naggar Castle which was around 24 KMs from Log Huts. We took around an hour to reach there via right bank road and Patli Kuhal.

The Castle was converted into a rest house, a hundred year back and in 1978 this ancient building was handed over to HPTDC to run as a heritage hotel. This medieval Castle was built by Raja Sidh Singh of Kullu around 1460 A.D. The hotel overlooks the Kullu Valley and apart from the spectacular view and superb location this has a flavour of authentic western Himalayan architecture. Here, a gallery houses the paintings of the Russian artist Nicholas Roerich. Naggar also has three other old shrines. Hotel Castle is an unique medieval stone and wood mansion, once the home to the Raja of Kullu and now an HPTDC Heritage hotel.

After visiting Naggar castle we returned back to Manali and visited Club House located in old Manali aound 1.5 KMs from Mall Road.

The Club House in Manali is an amusement and adventure retreat set up on the banks of the Manalsu Nalla, a branch of the breathtaking Beas River. It is one place in the Manali Valley that has something for the entire family - whether it is indoor games/sports, entertainment or recreational activities. There is also a restaurant where scrumptious local and international cuisine is served along with an auditorium, library and a video game centre.

The Manali Club House is run and managed by Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC). The adventurists can indulge in river crossing and zip lining here. Other than recreational activities, tourists can also shop in the Government Shops at the Club House where one can find beautiful handicraft at decent rates.

We spent a lot of time here and enjoyed various sports, In the evening we went to the Mall Road.

Koksar in search of Snow | Exposing Traffic Mess | Manali Road Trip EP2

This video is the second part of our Manali Road Trip in which crossed Atal Tunnel to explore Lahaul valley and to play with snow.

Route we followed:
Manali - Solang Valley (15 KM) - Atal Tunnel South Portal (10 KM) - Atal Tunnel North Portal (9 KM) - Koksar (8 KM) - Sissu (15 KM)

We started from Manali in search of snow. As there was no show in Manali, we had 2 choices, Rohtang or Lahaul. We choose Lahaul valley as reaching Rohtang was not in good condition and also it requires a permit.

We faced some traffic jam till we reached Beas bridge in Solang Valley. However, jam was much more beyound that as the cars were not following lane driving and blocking the incomming traffic in other lane. We took a break at Atal Tunnel north portal and then went to Koksar to play with snow. The 8 KM distance took around 45 Minutes due to traffic jam. There were lots of tourists there enjoying the snow. Koksar is the first village of Lahaul valley if you are comming through Rohtang pass.

After enjoying in snow for sometime, we visited Sissu. Sissu is famous for Sissu Lake, Sissu Waterfall and excelent views. There is a helipad, where we enjoyed some snacks. Though Koksar and Sissu is almost at same altitude, there was no snow in Sissu.

After spending some time, we started our return journey to Manali, however, the drive was not smooth. Watch the next video of this series to know more about the same.

This video is the first part of our Manali Road Trip in which I will cover our journey from Delhi to Manali.

Route we followed:
Ghaziabad (68 KM) Murthal (45 KM) Panipat (119 KM) Ambala (52 KM) Kharar (66 KM) Kiratpur (20 KM) Swarghat (40 KM) Bilaspur (40 KM) Sundar Nagar (23 KM) Mandi (20 KM) Pandoh (21 KM) Aut Tunnel (30 KM) Kullu (40 KM) Manali - Total Distance 584 KMs

We started our journey from Delhi and took Breakfast break at Amrik Sukhdev, Murthal. Then we went through Ambala and took right turn towards Kharar from Sambhu Toll Plaza. Road till Sambhu Toll plaza was 4 to 6 lane highway which becomes 2 lane till Kharar. From Kharar we are back on 4 lane highway. Faced a massive traffic jam at Kiratpur. After taking right turn from Kiratpur towards Swarghat, the drive was smooth on 4 lane highway. From Swarghat we were back on 2 lane mountain road and crossed Bilaspur to reach Sundar Nagar where we joined back on four lane highway. However, the highway was not in its best condition and it also rained for sometime slowing down our speed.

After Sundar Nagar we crossed Mandi and Pandoh dam after which we again faced a massive traffic jam due to on going 4 lane project. By the time we came out of the traffic jam it was already dark. However, the drive was smooth and we reached Manali after driving for 15 hours.
