Thripunithura Irumpanam Vettikavu Bhagavati Temple situated in Ernakulam district is one of the few Bhadrakali temples in Kerala, that is dedicated to Vedic tradition, with a regular recital of Vedic Mantras and Murajapas.

There is also the Guruthi which is offered on the respective days.

The ritual Great Guruthi is the mystic process that bonds all the evil spirits, negativity, and demon-like spirits in tune with the rhythm of the Goddess Chilamb. There is no evil or bad that can escape this bo***ge. Devotees are healed and rescued from illness and other grief.

Vettikavu Bhagavati Temple is one of the few temples that has performed more than a thousand rituals. Only a few temples as famous as the Chottanikkara Temple have crossed this landmark.

Mahadeva temple is one of the 108 Shiva temples in Kerala, located at the southern tip of India. It is renowned for its mural art. The paintings of Lord Nataraja (God of Dance) on the gopuram (temple tower) are one of the main attractions here. Unlike in most other temples, here the idol faces the West.

Situated in the Kottayam district, the temple complex dates back to 1542 CE. It attracts large crowds when its annual Ezharaponnana (the seven-and-a-half elephants finished in gold) Ezhunallathu (procession) is held, usually in the month of February.

തമിഴ്നാട്ടിലെ മധുരയിൽ വൈഗൈ നദിക്ക് തെക്കുഭാഗത്തായി സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് മീനാക്ഷി സുന്ദരേശ്വര ക്ഷേത്രം അഥവാ മധുര മീനാക്ഷി ക്ഷേത്രം (Meenakshi Amman Temple). 17 ഏക്കർ സ്ഥലത്ത് പരന്ന് കിടക്കുന്നതാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്ര സമുച്ഛയം. അഞ്ച് കവാടങ്ങളാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനുള്ളത്. പരാശക്തിയായ പാർവതീദേവിയെ "മീനാക്ഷിയായും", തൻപതി പരമാത്മായ ഭഗവാൻ ശിവശങ്കരനെ "സുന്ദരേശനായും" ഇവിടെ ആരാധിച്ചുവരുന്നു. മധുര ക്ഷേത്രസമുച്ചയത്തിൽ ആകെ 14 ഗോപുരങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ട്. ഇവയിൽ ഏറ്റവും വലുത് തെക്കേ ഗോപുരമാണ്. ഇതിൻറെ ഉയരം 170 അടി ആണ്. മീനാക്ഷി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ആകെ 33,000-ത്തോളം ശില്പങ്ങൾ ഉള്ളതായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.

ആദിശക്തിയായ പാർവതിയുടെ ഒരു അവതാരമാണ് "മീനാക്ഷി". മത്സ്യക്കണ്ണുള്ളവൾ എന്നാണ് ഈ പേരിനർഥം പാർവതി ദേവിക്ക് പരമശിവനേക്കാൾ പ്രാധാന്യം കല്പിക്കുന്ന ഭാരതത്തിലെ അപൂർവ്വക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് മധുരൈ മീനാക്ഷി ക്ഷേത്രം.

എല്ലാദിവസവും രാത്രിയിൽ മീനാക്ഷി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ നടക്കുന്ന ചടങ്ങുകൾ അവിശ്വാസികൾക്ക് പോലും കൗതുകം പകരുന്നതാണ്. നാമ മന്ത്രങ്ങളുടെ അകമ്പടിയോടേ സുന്ദരേശ്വര വിഗ്രഹം വഹിച്ചുക്കൊണ്ടുള്ള പ്രദക്ഷിണം വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച ദിവസങ്ങൾ ഒഴികെയുള്ള ദിവസങ്ങളിൽ രാത്രി ഒൻപത് മണിക്കാണ് അരങ്ങേറുന്നത്.

സമചതുരാകൃതിയിലുള്ള മധുരമീനാക്ഷി അമ്മന്‍ കോവിലിന്റെ വടക്ക് കിഴക്കേ മൂലയിലാണ് ആയിരംകാൽ മണ്ഡപം എന്ന വാസ്തു വിസ്മയം.1569-ലാണ് ഇത് നിർമ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ടത്. കോവിലിന്റെ ആകെ വിസ്തീര്‍ണ്ണത്തിന്റെ ഏകദേശം നാലിലോന്നോളം സ്ഥലത്ത് ഈ മണ്ഡപം വ്യാപിച്ചു കിടക്കുന്നു. വിശാലമായ ഈ മണ്ഡപത്തില്‍ കൊത്തുപണികളോട് കൂടിയ 985 കല്‍തൂണുകളുണ്ട്.

പാറയ്ക്കടുത്തായി വളരെ പഴക്കമുള്ള ഒരു ഗുഹയുമുണ്ട്. പുരാതനമനുഷ്യര്‍ ഈ ഗുഹയില്‍ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്നുവെന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്നു. തങ്ങള്‍ പാറയില്‍ നിന്നും ഈ ഗുഹയിലേയ്ക്ക് നടന്നുപോകാവുന്ന ദൂരമേയുള്ളു. വിശ്വാസികളും സഞ്ചാരികളും ഉൾപ്പെടെ നിരവധി ആളുകൾ ഇവിടെ വന്നുപോകാറുണ്ട്.

ബുദ്ധനന്റെ മരണ സ്ഥലമെന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്ന ഇന്ത്യയിലെ കുശിനഗറിലെ ബുദ്ധക്ഷേത്രമാണ് പരിനിർവാണ സ്തൂപം. സ്‌തൂപവും, കുംഭഗോപുരവും വൃത്താകൃതിയിലുള്ള ഒരേ അടിത്തറയിലാണ്‌ നിര്‍മ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്‌. 1876 ല്‍ ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ആദ്യ ആര്‍ക്കിയോളജിക്കല്‍ സര്‍വേയറായ ജനറല്‍ എ കണ്ണിങ്‌ ഹാം നടത്തിയ ഉല്‍ഖനനത്തില്‍ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിനൊപ്പമാണ്‌ സ്‌തൂപവും കണ്ടെത്തിയത്‌.

6.10 മീറ്റര്‍ നീളമുള്ള ബുദ്ധ പ്രതിമയാണ്‌ ഇവിടെയുള്ളത്‌. ബുദ്ധ ഭഗവാന്റെ ഏകശില പ്രതിമ ചുനാറിലെ ഒറ്റ ചെങ്കല്ലില്‍ തീര്‍ത്തതാണ്‌. പടിഞ്ഞാറേയ്‌ക്ക്‌ മുഖം തിരിച്ച്‌ വലത്തേയ്‌ക്ക്‌ ചാരികിടക്കുന്ന രീതിയിലാണ്‌ ബുദ്ധ പ്രതിമ നിര്‍മ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്‌. മഹാപരിനിര്‍വാണയുടെ യഥാര്‍ത്ഥ ദേഹ ഭാവം ഇതാണന്നാണ്‌ കരുതപ്പെടുന്നത്‌.

വശങ്ങളില്‍ കല്‍ത്തൂണുകളുടെ പിന്‍ബലമുള്ള ഇഷ്‌ടികയില്‍ തീര്‍ത്ത അടിത്തറയിലാണ്‌ പ്രതിമ നിര്‍മ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്‌. സ്വാമി ഹരിബാലയാണ്‌ ഈ പ്രതിമ നിര്‍മ്മിച്ചതെന്ന ലിഖിതം അടിത്തറയില്‍ രേഖപെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. അഞ്ചാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടില്‍ ജീവിച്ചിരുന്ന ബുദ്ധ ശിഷ്യനാണ്‌ അദ്ദേഹം. ഗുരുവിന്‌ വേണ്ടിയുള്ള ശിഷ്യന്റെ സമ്മാനമാണ്‌ ഈ ക്ഷേത്രവും വിഹാരവും. ലോകത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള സഞ്ചാരികള്‍ ഇവിടേയ്‌ക്കെത്താറുണ്ട്‌.

സസ്യാഹാരിയായ മുതല കാവൽ നിൽക്കുന്ന കേരളത്തിലെ അപൂർവ്വ ക്ഷേത്രം

അനന്തപുര തടാകക്ഷേത്രം (Ananthapura Lake Temple)

കേരളത്തിലെ ഏക തടാക ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് അനന്തപുര തടാകക്ഷേത്രം. കാസർ‍‍ഗോഡ് ജില്ലയിലെ കുംബ്ല എന്ന പട്ടണത്തിൽ നിന്നും 5 കിലോമീറ്റർ അകലെയാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം. തിരുവനന്തപുരത്തെ അനന്തപത്മനാഭ സ്വാമിയുടെ (പത്മനാഭസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രം) മൂലസ്ഥാനമായി ഇത് കരുതപ്പെടുന്നു.

അനന്തപദ്മനാഭൻ ഇവിടെയായിരുന്നു കുടികൊണ്ടിരുന്നത് എന്നാണ് സ്ഥലവാസികളുടെ വിശ്വാസം. മനോഹരമായ ഒരു തടാകത്തിന്റെ മദ്ധ്യത്തിൽ സവിശേഷമായ വാസ്തുവിദ്യയിൽ നിർമ്മിച്ച ക്ഷേത്രം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു. അപൂർവ്വങ്ങളിൽ അപൂര്‍വ്വമായാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്ര നിർമ്മിതി അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. വിശാലമായ കുളത്തിന്റെ നടുവിലായി സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം സരോവര ക്ഷേത്രം എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നുണ്ട്. വർഷത്തിൽ എല്ലാ ദിവസവും ഇവിടെ വെള്ളം നിറ‍ഞ്ഞിരിക്കും.

കാസർകോഡു നിന്നും തിരുവനന്തപുരം വരെ നീളുന്ന അതിവിചിത്രമായ ഒരു ഗുഹ ഇവിടെ കാണാം. ഇതിനു പിന്നിലും കഥകളും ഐതിഹ്യങ്ങളും ഏറെയുണ്ട്

പണ്ട് മുതൽകെ ഈ തടാകത്തിൽ കണ്ടു വന്ന മുതലയെ ബ്രിട്ടിഷുകാർ വെടിവച്ചു കൊന്നെങ്കിലും പിന്നീട് തനിയെ പ്രത്യക്ഷപെട്ട "ബബിയ" എന്ന ഒരു പ്രായം ചെന്ന മുതലയും ഈ തടാകത്തിലുണ്ട്. വളരെ ജനപ്രിയമാണ് ഈ മുതല. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ നിവേദ്യം മാത്രമാണു "ബബിയ"യുടെ ഭക്ഷണമെന്നാണ് ക്ഷേത്ര പൂജാരിമാർ പറയുന്നത്.

1.3 ലക്ഷം ടൺ കരിങ്കല്ലിൽ നിർമിച്ച ബൃഹദീശ്വരക്ഷേത്രം

തമിഴ്നാട്ടിലെ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ അത്ഭുതങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ് ബൃഹദീശ്വരക്ഷേത്രം. പൂർണ്ണമായും കരിങ്കല്ലിൽ നിർമ്മാണം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം യുനസ്കോയുടെ പൈതൃക സ്ഥാനങ്ങളുടെ പട്ടികയിൽ ഇടം നേടിയിരിക്കുന്ന ക്ഷേത്രം കൂടിയാണ്. ഇന്ത്യൻ നിർമ്മാണ കലയുടെയും ക്ഷേത്ര വാസ്തുവിദ്യയുടെയും ഒക്കെ കാര്യത്തിൽ ഒരു നാഴികക്കല്ല് എന്നു വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കാവുന്ന ഇടം കൂടിയാണ് ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം.

എ.ഡി. 985-ൽ തുടങ്ങിയ ക്ഷേത്രനിർമ്മാണം 1013-ലാണ് പൂർത്തിയായത്. ശിവനാണ് പ്രധാന പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. പൂർണ്ണമായും കരിങ്കല്ലിൽ തീർത്ത ഏക ക്ഷേത്രമായി ഇത് കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. പരമശിവനെ ലിംഗരൂപത്തിലാണ് ഇവിടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. അക്കാലത്തെ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഏറ്റവും ഉയരമുള്ള ഗോപുരം ഇതായിരുന്നു. നിർമ്മാണത്തിനു മൊത്തം 1.3 ലക്ഷം ടൺ കരിങ്കല്ല് വേണ്ടിവന്നു.

വിശുദ്ധ തോമാശ്ലീഹായുടെ കല്ലറയ്ക്കു മുകളിലായി ഒരു ദേവാലയം.

ചെന്നൈ‌യിലെ മൈലാപ്പൂരിൽ ബംഗാൾ ഉൾക്കടലിന്റെ തീരത്ത് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന വിശുദ്ധ തോമാശ്ലീഹായുടെ നാമധേയത്തിലുള്ള ബസിലിക്കയാണ് മൈലാപ്പൂർ പള്ളി അഥവാ മൈലാപ്പൂർ സാന്തോം ബസിലിക്ക. ഇതൊരു ദേശീയ തീർത്ഥാടന കേന്ദ്രവുമാണ്. ഗോഥിക്ക് രീതിയിലാണ് പള്ളിയുടെ നിർമ്മിതി. വിശുദ്ധന്റെ കല്ലറയ്ക്കു മുകളിലായാണ് ഈ ദേവാലയം പണിതുയർത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. വിശുദ്ധരുടെ കല്ലറയ്ക്കു തൊട്ടു മുകളിൽ പണിതിരിക്കുന്ന ലോകത്തെ മൂന്നു ക്രൈസ്തവദേവാലയങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് ഇത്. പള്ളിക്കു സമീപം കടലിനോട് ചേർന്ന് മരത്തിൽ പണിതീർത്ത ഒരു തൂണുണ്ട്. ഇതും തോമാശ്ലീഹാ സ്ഥാപിച്ചതാണെന്നു വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.

കാറ്റിന്റെ എതിര്‍ദിശയില്‍ പറക്കുന്ന കൊടിയുള്ള അത്ഭുത ക്ഷേത്രം.

പുരി ജഗനാഥ ക്ഷേത്രം

ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ഹൈന്ദവ വിശ്വാസികള്‍ക്കിടയില്‍ പുരിയുടെയത്രയും പ്രശസ്തമായിട്ടുള്ള ഒരു ക്ഷേത്രം ഉണ്ടോ എന്ന കാര്യം സംശയമാണ്. അത്രയധികം പേരുകേട്ടതാണ് ഒഡീഷയിലെ തീരദേശമായ പുരിയില്‍ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ധാരാളം പ്രത്യേകതകള്‍ നിറഞ്ഞതുകൂടിയാണ്.

കാറ്റിന്റെ ഗതിക്കനുസരിച്ച് പറക്കുന്ന പലതും നമ്മള്‍ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. ആകാശത്തിലെ പട്ടം മുതല്‍ വിരിച്ചിടുന്ന തുണികള്‍ വരെ കാറ്റിന്റെ ഗതിക്കനുസരിച്ചുള്ളതാണ്. എന്നാല്‍ പുരി ജഗനാഥ ക്ഷേത്രത്തില്‍ പ്രകൃതിയുടെ ഈ നിയമങ്ങള്‍ ബാധകേ അല്ല. ഇവിടെ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഗോപുരത്തിനു മുകളില്‍ ഉയര്‍ത്തി കെട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്ന പതാക കാറ്റിന്റെ എതിര്‍ദിശയിലാണ് പാറുന്നത്. എന്നാല്‍ ഇതിന് ശാസ്ത്രീയമായ ഒരു വിശദീകരണവും നല്കാന്‍ ആര്‍ക്കും ഇതുവരെയും സാധിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.

എവിടെനിന്നു നോക്കിയാലും കാണുന്ന സുദര്‍ശന ചക്രം പുരി നഗരത്തിന്റെ ഏതു ഭാഗത്തു നിന്നു നോക്കിയാലും ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ മുകളില്‍ സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന സുദര്‍ശന ചക്രം കാണുവാന്‍ സാധിക്കും. ഇതില്‍ പ്രത്യേകത എന്താണെന്നാല്‍ ഏതു ദിശയില്‍ നിന്നു നോക്കിയാലും ഒരേ പോലെയാണ് ഇത് കാണുവാന്‍ പറ്റുക എന്നതാണ്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ മധ്യഭാഗത്തെ ഗോപുരത്തിന്റെ മുകളിലാണ് ഈ സുദര്‍ശന ചക്രം ഉള്ളത്. 12-ാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടില്‍ നിര്‍മ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ട ഈ ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഗോപുരത്തിന്റെ മുകളില്‍ ഒരു ടണ്ണിലേറെ ഭാരമുള്ള സുദര്‍ശന ചക്രം ഒരു യന്ത്രത്തിന്റെയും സഹായമില്ലാതെ എങ്ങനെ കയറ്റി എന്നതും ഉത്തരം കിട്ടാത്ത ചോദ്യമാണ്.
