https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ofOQnJ6mPQThough better known for the temples that surround it to its east (Borobudur) and west (Panambran), Yogyakarta is a great city in its own right. We hit the town for a couple of days and checked out some great places to walk, eat, and hang out. We were especially impressed with the youth culture and the absolute friendliness of the "Jogja" residents--not to mention the graffiti!

Arrived in the central Myanmar hill-town of Kalaw at 3:00AM after an 8-hour bus ride and walked 45 mins to our guesthouse. No reservation, so slept in the lobby. It was damn cold but a beautiful sight to wake up to.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pav1nKVofj4 Indonesia (especially Java) has some of the best-known and most awe-inspiring religious structures in the world. Two of these ancient and massive temples--Borobudur Buddhist Temple and Prambanan Hindu Temple--are conveniently placed smack-dab in Central Java, just a few miles from the hip city of Yogyakarta. We took our rented scooter out to both of these temples on two different mornings, taking in the sites and getting a lot of great footage of these incredible temples. So are they worth the trip and the cost? Which one is better? We try to give an unbiased view based on our experiences in both of these lovely UNESCO heritage spaces.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC98sxukBdFrZRUQLW_Xq74Q Hey, everyone! Thanks so much for liking/following our page. If you have a second (and a gmail/YouTube account), please subscribe to our channel. We will be putting out videos of our travels and other interesting stuff as soon as we can make and upload them.

Getting subs on YouTube is really tough when starting from zero, and admittedly this FB page is the only route we have taken so far to spread the word. But we hope our FB friends and family can at least get us to a hundred (or more) so we can nudge the algorithm a bit and have more people see our videos and hopefully get inspired to travel to a certain place or in a certain way, or perhaps to embark on a creative journey of some kind.

Thanks in advance and we love you all! ^^

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtPXJLrz-ug&t=83s Legend tells of a fearsome god of fire and smog in the east of Java, Indonesia. Now resting right next to the small mountain town of Cemoro Lawang, the beast goes by the name of Mt. Bromo. This sulfuric volcano high in the mountains last erupted in 2016, and we couldn't wait to take the chance to climb the lookout point and get a closer look. Dust filled our lungs and exhaustion filled our limbs as we scaled the heights of Penjakan early in the morning to reach the summit and take some rad photos of this sleeping giant high about the hot plains of Eastern Java. A bit later, Kevin crossed the Sea of Sand and scaled the crater itself to get up close and personal to the source of the potential destruction and pungent aroma that ensconces the entire valley.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7E_B1btqVR0&t=555s One way to get from the island of Bali to the island of Java, Indonesia, is to take a ferry from Gilimanuk. But this requires a bit of overland travel by bus and car, making the journey sort of a long one and making Bali seem a LOT bigger than it actually is. From Ubud to Ubung, there are no buses and you need to take a private car. From there you get on a crappy old bus and head straight for the west coast of Bali, driving up the coast until you hit the small port town of Gilimanuk. What awaits you on the other side? East Java--a place so different from Bali that you'll feel it as soon as you set foot off the ferry. Banyuwangi is the gateway to nearby Mt. Ijen and the entry to Java's rail system., and when you've got to stop over for a night or two, be sure to stay at Ijen Backpacker's hostel. The hosts will treat you right. ; )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41cOlz40-2w&t=46s Bali has some of the most idyllic waterfalls imaginable, and dozens are within a short drive of Ubud city center. We visited Tegenungang, one of the most accessible and popular waterfalls in Southern Bali and cooled off after a couple of hours riding around in the hot sun. But before that, we hit up another gem of Ubud--a sacred Hindu water temple called Tirta Empul. Little did we know, we happened to arrive right in the middle of the Full Moon Festival, so the temple was packed with local believers and foreigners alike. If you've only got a day or two to spare in Ubud, we highly recommend visiting both of these spectacular attractions, which are easily accessible by motorbike, taxi, or hired car.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLR9QWW_6X4 We were told that Pejeng Temple held the "Moon of Pejeng," a 3,200-year-old Hindu prayer bell and the largest bronze bell of the Bronze age. We thought there would be throngs of tourists lining up at the gates. Instead, we encountered a completely empty temple that we proceeded to wander through for thirty minutes in the midday Bali sun. It was all a bit weird and Hallucinatory.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yNZb7HCfOXk We took a mini-bus from our hotel in Kuta to the city center in Ubud. After checking into our place, we set off on foot to find the Campuhan Ridge Walk, a serene jungle path on the perimeter of Ubud, far away from the noises, sights, and smells of the bustling city below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NC5MomJvIF8 We rented a motorbike and escaped the madness of Denpasar, heading up the coast north of Kuta. Batu Bolong is an isolated beach with clear water and big waves, super popular with Australian surfers (and named for the adjacent temple). Tanah Lot is a temple literally IN the sea and is one of the most gorgeous examples of Balinese Hindu art and architecture. We get intimate with some of its "holy" relics and meet some Indonesian tourists along the way.

We took in the sites, smells, and sounds and dipped our toes into meeting the super-friendly locals. It because immediately obvious to us why Kuta is a destination for millions of tourists around the world each year.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-Cs3IfjWJA In late November, we finally left the cold of South Korea for the warmth of Bali, Indonesia and a whole bunch of other Southeast Asian countries to come. We documented clips of a long and tiring day after a few grueling weeks of emptying our house and selling most of our remaining belongings. But time and tiredness are no barriers to the airport munchies!
