Mysterious Old Bridge In Woods 299
Today, just a little ways outside of blue lake on the southern side of the highway I seen an old bridge thru the trees so, of course I stopped, hiked thru the woods and went and found it. This is a short video I took on the bridge before I noticed something in the woods and headed out.
Its a really big old bridge. 2 lanes comfortably with shoulder space. Looks like it may have been the old 299? I've seen similar old reminence in a couple places along the 299 but much closer to Redding and much smaller.
Same type of architecture style as the others I've seen. both leading up to it and the bridge at one point we're paved however heavily overgrown. Trailed looked semi maintained. Branches cut back and all. There was also a large opening at the end.
Maybe part of 299 left when it was rebuilt or build was decommissioned for some reason or something? Anyone know anything about this? I'd love to hear more.
No water visible below from above but there looked to be a brand new one way paved road down below.
Best swimming hole and rope swing on the Avenue Of the Giants in my opinion. Do you have a favorite? Top things to do in Humboldt!
Avenue of the Giants was so nice today!!
