Last Sunday, I went to record short guide in Shimokitazawa. Tokyo is still kinda lockdown, Izakaya 🏮 are supposed to close at 8pm and they can’t serve alcohol. It’s quite tough situation for them and me as well. Hope that you enjoy the short walk in Shimokitazawa.

I’m sometimes asked about my profile picture.
I took this beside Eiffel Tower in Paris in 2019 when I travel to France and Italy. At that time, I lived in Copenhagen and was planning to visit those 2 beautiful countries with my high school friend who traveled all the way from Okinawa Japan.
He bought this samurai outfit from Amazon Japan.

Actually I took this samurai pictures in several places where we visited. I didn’t even think that those would be my profile.
This is the history of my samurai profile picture.
I wanna travel all over the world again.

The official name is “The Metropolitan Area Outer underground Discharge Channel “
As well known as “World’s Largest Underground Building”

The area where 40-50 km north from center city of Tokyo, around Saitama prefecture region located among several large rivers were suffered from flood damages many times.
This facility was built in 2006 and since then there has been no damage of flooding.

Kawazu-zakura( Kawazu Sakura)🌸🌸🌸
The Kawazu Sakura cherry blossoms have become famous for being one of the earliest-blooming cherry blossoms in Tokyo and Tokyo outlying areas.
(Typically, cherry trees bloom in Tokyo between late March and early April.)
Technically The wild cherry blossoms of Mainland have a mechanism that does not bloom in the cold season, but this Kawazu Sakura is the mixture of mainland’s sakura and Kanhi-Sakura which grows in Okinawa. (In Okinawa, blossom season is around Jan to Feb.)
These sort of genuine system works to Kawazu Sakura blooming, actually I didn’t know that wow!

Shibuya Scramble Square Building
Rising to a height of about 230 m, and with 47 floors aboveground, Shibuya Scramble Square is the tallest building in the Shibuya area.As a new landmark facing the world-famous Shibuya Scramble Crossing, Shibuya Scramble Square aims to be a stage for disseminating movement from the heart of Shibuya and giving birth to new culture based on the concept of “Intermixing, creating, and transmitting to the world.”

It was mind-blowing view from top of the floor. I also went up the rooftop (*Before going up, we are required to leave the luggage in the locker.). There are a few visiter maybe fewer than security guards when I went there at 11:00. I’d recommend you should visit the observation deck in the morning. And entrance fee is 1800 JPY which is almost $18.0

Nishi-Ogikubo 🏮

There are tons of izakaya restaurants 🏮(Japanese tapas style bar) in Tokyo and it’s hard to find which area you should go for drink. Maybe you’ve been to famous places, like Shibuya, Shinjuku, etc. if you look for more local hidden place to hangout, “Nishiogikubo” is the go-to area. There are few tourists and lots of locals love there. You could find your favorite izakaya!!

Shibamata and Shibamata Taishakuten Temple
🌾🐉🍁

Shibamata is a town on the eastern end of Tokyo.
The town retains its old-school charm and is a perfect break away from modern Tokyo.
One of the famous place in this town is the Shibamata Taishakuten Temple and also known as the hometown of Tora-san who is famous character of the movie “Otoko wa Tsuraiyo”.
There are many shops and restaurants along the way from Shibamata station to the temple, they sell local specialities such as dango (japanese rice cake ball)
At the end of the approach stands the entrance gate of Shibamata Taishakuten Temple. Beyond the gate, there is a 500 year old, large pine tree which resembles a dragon.
Also included in the temple's paid area is a tasteful garden in the back of the complex that can be viewed from an adjacent building with tatami rooms. A covered walkway surrounds the garden and allows visitors to enjoy the scenery regardless of weather.

Jindaiji Temple
In Tokyo, Jindaiji temple is one of the oldest Buddhist temples that established in 733. In the temple the oldest national treasure of a statue of Buddha is preserved. This temple is located less than an hour from the heart of Tokyo and miraculously preserves a rich woodland grove, blessed with spring water. Thanks to the pure water, there are wasabi fields and soba farm. Jindai soba is also well known.

Visiting Jindai temple, take a deep breath, in calm moments, you can separate yourself from your busy life.

Jindai Botanical Garden 🌿

Sitting right next to Jindaiji Temple, the sprawling park that makes up the Jindai Botanical Gardens is home to the biggest rose garden 🌹in Tokyo and a variety of seasonal plants that transform during the seasons. If you find yourself in Tokyo during autumn, don't miss the chance to wander through the park’s 5,000 blossoming roses, which draw visitors from across the country.
