I love the quote by Zig Ziglar that goes, "If you're not willing to learn, no one can help you. If your are determined to learn, no one can stop you."

Growing and learning is a huge part of life. I love learning daily. Learning how to be a happier more considerate person while overcome the most difficult obstacles life can throw at you is part of everyone's day.

Sometimes we think we corner the market on rough days. We think our lives are harder than the next person. We think being different than we are, having a prettier smile, brighter teeth, a different color skin ( again no one corners the market), more friends or more money might make us happier.

We work and we strive to get ahead, to become better and we should. This is actually part of life.

What is the RIGHT way to do it?

Well, my grandmother said, "Anything in Excess is a sin!" and she also said, "Service is Beautiful!" My grandmother was a Saint. She was also voted, "Mother of the Year" back in the day. We can definitely learn from her example. (It's great to learn from those who have lived through 90 years of life on this Earth. Especially, if you are considering giving up sooner than 90.)

We don't want to be excessive and we want to serve.

Apply this to having a prettier smile and brighter teeth. Will serving someone and seeing there joy bring you joy? There's your smile.

What if we are serving people with all colors of skin and all shapes and sizes? Would we realize that we are happy to be different rather than needing to be like a magazine photo?

What if we serve those who we want to be our friends? Would we love them more and they appreciate us more? Possibly and if not, we've learned and we serve again and again until we have a ton of friends.

The other day my dad fell. We took him to the VA and it turns out he broke his pelvic bone. The pain he went through was excruciatiing. But, all that could be done for that kind of injury is motrin and send you home. So, now he has 12 days of bed restand anti-inflammatories.

Pain is a challenge to say the least. However, can you see the beauty through the pain? Does it force you to look up? Does it humble you to love instead of hate? Do you become stronger in your mind and your body after having gone through it? Does it make you a "Believer"? Imagine Dragons seem to think pain is glorious!

How do you grow, mature, become stronger in mind and body? Are your challenges actually your blessings?

It became a thing about 2015 and still is widely used today.

Some call it "Be real" or even say, "You're not being real unless you show vulnerability.

I call it a marketing tactic. We market things and politics but we also market ourselves continually.

What if we chose to spread/market JOY instead of DEFEAT?

We all get defeated pretty much daily. But, what if we talked and thought about the good rather than the bad? Would there be less sadness? Less stress and anxiety? More happiness?

I went to lunch with my friend today and she was telling me that when she travels, there are simple common sense things that travelers should automatically do.

I said that I understood that to some extent because my dad taught us that what you bring in you take back out and then if someone else left something they shouldn't have you take that too.

She said, "Yeah, It's weird that people don't understand that one simple thing and there are so many more."

I said, "Do tell."

She then spouted out what she referred to as:

THE TRAVELER'S CREED
1. Do no harm. Minimize your impact. Be Green. Pack it in—pack it out. Leave nothing in your wake. Take only pictures and wonderful memories with you.
2. Be patient with the people you encounter. Ask sincere questions—accept honest replies. Be polite. Don’t be glib or provocative. Do not expect special privileges. As in your daily life, make no promises to people that you are not certain to honor.
3. Stay on designated paths and Dress appropriately when visiting places where others may be offended by loud or obnoxious attire. Take off your shoes if it's appropriate or a good idea like when entering a clean white area/home. Respect yourself and show respect to others. Take hats off indoors and sunglasses off when talking with others. Be respectful of the traditions of others.
4.Never touch animals or birds. This can be harmful to you, the animal and their habitat even if it's someone's back yard.
5.Turn off and Unplug. You will experience so much more. It can also be quite rude.
6. Buy and eat local. Purchase items from local artists and craftspeople.
7. Obey the rules/laws. Obedience is not a restriction as much as it provides you and others with greater freedom.
9. Be humble, quiet and grateful.

She said these and other guidelines help the traveler to have a much more enjoyable experience and help the people feel happy to do more to help you and other travelers on their journey.
