The Churchill Arms in Kensington, built in 1750, is one of the older and more historic pubs in London. Regular visitors in the 1800s were twice prime minster, Sir Winston Churchill's grandparents, which led to the re-naming of the pub after World War Two. It is filled with plenty of Churchill memorabilia hanging on the walls, and covered with beautiful flowers hanging outside, which have previously won at the Chelsea Flower Show.

Summer Solstice ☀️

Later this month we’re celebrating the summer solstice, bringing the longest day of the year and the official start of summer. The solstice is a key moment in the sun’s annual cycle, but it has a special significance to Stonehenge.

The sarsen stones, put up at the centre of the site in about 2500BC, were carefully designed to align with the sun on the solstices. It's likely that people gathered at Stonehenge at the solstices to witness the pivotal changes in the movements of the sun, and to conduct rituals and ceremonies relating to the changing seasons, the sun and the sky.

To mark this year’s summer solstice, we will live stream the sunset on 20 June and the sunrise on 21 June.
