Last night I was out for some Continuous Professional Development in the Pentland hills. Night navigation can be tricky, but like most things, the more you practice the easier it becomes. Terms and conditions

2. The day out will take place within Scotland.
3. Limit of 6 people for the day.
4. Your leader has final selection of which hill will be suitable for the day given the group and conditions.
5. Voucher expires 31st Dec 2024
6. Entries will only be taken from 1 platform per participant.
7. All participants will need to agree to Braw Mountain Company T&C’s.

This weekend I was out on a bespoke experience in the Scottish Borders with Roseanne, Michael and Lulu.

We opted for the Ettrick Valley as the weather was looking better further east. This was definitely the right choice as we were treated to blue skies and beautiful sunshine, if a little windy at times. The air was crisp and fresh but this didn’t phase the trio as they enjoyed their introduction to Scottish hillwalking.

This is a great time of year with amazing colours across the hills and the added benefit of zero midge.

We took in 4 of the local Donald’s, the Donald’s can provide some beautiful scenery and allow for a fantastic day with multiple hills without being too intense or demanding. These three took it all in their stride (especially lulu) and will definitely be going for some bigger peaks next time. Grahams, corbetts and munros here they come!

Hello and welcome to Braw Mountain Company. My name is Dean McNaught and I am a qualified Mountain leader. I set up Braw mountain company this year to provide guided mountain experiences and skills based courses.

I grew up in Glasgow and was in the scouts from a young age, it was here that my love for the outdoors began. Learning the knowledge and skills that I would carry on throughout my life. After spending over 20 years enjoying the hills and mountains throughout the UK and further afield, I qualified as a Summer Mountain Leader in the summer of 2023.

It is my goal to enable as many people as possible to enjoy the marvels and the escape that the UK’s hills and mountains offer. With a focus on fun and enjoyment for all, whilst maintaining the highest levels of safety.

I believe that the hills can be enjoyed by all, and that there is a hill for all abilities. It is for this reason each day is tailored to ensure maximum enjoyment and adventure for everyone.
