This weekend we had a spooky visit to Storrs Woods (near Stannington) for a ‘s Pumpkin trail. It was so great to see the mossy sculptures and the pumpkins. We also enjoyed the storytelling around the fire pit.

Accidentally Halloween themed ride today! 🎃

The mist made it really hard to see which made it really spooky! You never knew if there was an SUV lurking around each bend! 👻

I thoroughly enjoyed stopping at for ice cream. It’s worth climbing up the hills for it!

That’s it for the Big Bike Revival 2024! Hopefully we’ll be doing it all over again in March 2025!

We saw some great street art from Phlegm and a heron in the River Sheaf! Sheffield is so pretty when the sun comes out. I hope my riders will have many more cycling adventures over the winter.

CyclingUK were in town for a large staff meeting and wanted to have a ride around Sheffield. I took them through the City Centre, over the Cobweb Bridge, past the Olympic Legacy Park and then back on the 5 Weirs Walk. They loved the variety of roads, paths, tracks & bridges.

Long day though! 😴

More than 1,200 people attended the consultation. We, along with Urban Splash, are delighted at this level of engagement. The team are now working through all the comments and suggestions, and we’ll be reporting back next month.

📣 Last ride of 2024!

Sadly, my funding has run out so these rides will not be continuing over the winter. This is the last beginner/social ride until March next year.

This ride is a nice and easy one going clockwise around the city centre and then we'll have a rest at Western Park Museum before heading back.

Today was a mini adventure to try and find the best fish & chips in the 🐟

Funnily enough the hardest bit was getting out of Sheffield. All other hills were long but not too challenging in comparison! Finally we reached Stoney Middleton for lunch and maybe it’s just because we cycled to get there but it was the best fish & chips I’d had in ages!

Last night to stood outside in a park for about an hour looking at the sky but couldn’t see anything so started to head home. In the darkness I saw a man with a fancy camera who had just arrived so I said hello. He told me that the Northern Lights may be about to start again, so I waited a bit longer with him and he was right!

At around midnight I could see shapes faintly in the sky, which my phone could see better than my eyes. Eventually the lights got stronger and the whole sky turned red and slightly green. Incredible!

We couldn’t have wished for better weather for this ride to Oughtibridge. I had a couple of return riders and a couple of new ones. They all did really great!

Today the former John Lewis store on Barker's Pool will temporarily open its doors from 12.30pm.
Sensoria will bring The Light Organ to the building, formerly Cole Brothers, the first event in the Grade-II-Listed building which sits opposite Sheffield City Hall.
An interactive, playful artwork, The Light Organ uses microphones to turn sounds into a sculptural array of light. Festivalgoers can sing, talk, clap - and make all sorts of sounds
- to create a multicoloured sound and light display.

Entrance is free, no ticket required.

3 - 4 Oct 12.30pm – 5.30pm
5 - 6 Oct 11.30am – 4.30pm
7 - 11 Oct 12.30pm – 5.30pm

We did a great ride to Forge Dam today. A nice mix of road, path and trail. The first step is get into Whitely Woods is to cross the stepping stones. Luckily the water wasn’t too deep!

The A57 “Snake Pass” is one of the most important roads connecting Sheffield and Manchester. The road winds its way up and over the Peak District and is known for being a bit dangerous as cars speed round it like on a race track!

However! This week it is closed to cars so it’s now a cyclist’s dream! Hard work to get to the top (and I daren’t going down the other side as I’d have to come back up again!) But great fun heading back down!

It was a wet day but still a lovely bike ride along the Monsal Trail today. The plus side on going in a rainy day is that it’s much quieter!

Flat, car free, spooky tunnels and only 30 minutes drive from Sheffield!

The last ride felt like a hot summers day so who knows what this one will be like!

There is a bit of a hill at the start but we can have plenty of breaks to get up it. Then there is a gravel section that we can take it slowly on near Forge Dam. I have quite a few people signed up already and a tiny bit of bike hire available to anyone who needs it!

The Blackburn Trail starting from Meadowhall is a lovely 10km stretch that takes you just past Chapeltown. There is a variety of surfaces to keep things interesting so walking boots or a hybrid/gravel are recommended!

These friends joined me today to try out a new route. Once we collect some of hire bikes from we were on our way. It felt like summer was back! 😎☀️
