When applying for passports this information is VERY IMPORTANT....if you request routine service. Meaning you DID NOT PAY FOR EXPEDITED SERVICES. The time frame for processing is longer and you definitely want to give time for any mishaps such as corrections on your application. It is all done via mail so give yourself plenty of time to process your passport(s).

Once, The U.S. Department of State receives your application for your passport book, The U.S. Department of State will review your application and the supporting documents you have sent .

IF You requested routine service when you applied, routine service can take 8-11 weeks. The processing times begin the day they receive your application at a passport agency or center, not the day you mail your application or apply at a local acceptance facility. Please remember this it is very important for dates of travel.
