One of the danger about Kovalam is the rip current. There has been many fatalities in this water and many could be avoided if lifeguards are given better support and equipment.

This is a spot where lifeguards in Kovalam keep an eye over the beach goers. Sometimes I wish they were given more facilities such as jet ski for reaching people in distress.

Other simple items which can make their life easier - a cap, sun glasses, sun scren or dress etc. These could be sponsored by private people or brands like Decathalon, or other hotels operating around Kovalam.

An air-conditioned observation tower near the shore where guards can observe large portion of the beach using binoculars is a must. I guess there's one. Not sure about it!

I have seen such towers in Goa and also in Bondi beach in Australia.
