Can you spot the salmon jumping?! 🐟 Now is the perfect time to see salmon leaping up the waterfalls in the Yorkshire Dales. It’s an annual event around this time of year and only happens in a few specific spots, with Stainforth Force being the most well-known. We popped down yesterday to see if we got lucky and we did! 🥳
A fantastic circular walk from Grasmere taking in the summits of Helm Crag, Gibson Knott, Calf Crag and Steel Fell.
A great day out, even on a cool February day, with stunning views throughout. This is going to be one of the circular walks on our new ‘Journey through Lakeland’ full week walking holiday coming soon!

February hasn’t been a total write off!
The weather may be awful now but we’ve sneaked in a few decent days and it’s always great when you get chance to make the most of them!
This one was just a short gentle loop between the village of Nateby and the small town of Kirkby Stephen, on the very edge of the @yorkshiredales National Park, in an area called the Westmorland Dales.
It’s a great little circuit known as the ‘poetry path’ as there are poems to spot carved into rocks along the route, all focusing on a hill farmers connection to the landscape.
It also links up to the @edenviaducts path along Podgill and Merrygill Viaducts, which is a great option for a short stroll in its own right - lots of history, beautiful views and perfect if you’re looking for a buggy or wheelchair friendly walk (or just something nice and flat with no stiles!)

📍 Austwick to Malham, Yorkshire Dales
Matt was out this week going over some of the routes from our ‘Exploring Limestone Country’ walking holiday. We’re making it an option to do the route in the opposite direction as that allows people to link it into other routes for longer trips!
This was a fantastic and varied day out, starting in the lovely village of Austwick then heading through Oxenber Wood to the hamlet of Feizor.
It’s over the moor to the market town of Settle and up quiet Stockdale before dropping down to Malham with lovely views of the famous Cove!
