Chris and Carrie are just back from their holiday/anniversary trip to Arizona! They visited Sedona, Tucson, and Phoenix, enjoyed a hike, some delicious restaurants, and the red rock scenery.

“Fantastic 5 Star full service from Aum Journeys, Caitlyn Gambino. We had a couple revisions to my family trip to Costa Rica (of 80+ years parents and 25-27 years kids). A deep sea fish trip and dive trip were our main excursions and both went smoothly. Food was good, we had a couple problems with the room WiFi and coffee machines but overcame it. Overall a great relaxing trip, good drinks, food, entertainment and hotel staff allowed us to enjoy a memorable trip experience instead of material gifts for Christmas. For the win 🏆 with Aum Journeys!”

Starting in early January, Americans will be required to have an electronic travel authorization before entering the United Kingdom. This is different than the ETIAS for traveling to the European Union that will be required starting sometime in mid-2025.

Starting Jan. 8, every US traveler (including children) will need to apply for the ETA via the country’s official website, upload a passport photo, and pay a 10 GBP fee to submit. You should receive a decision within a few hours, but it’s recommended to apply well in advance in case of any delays. When boarding a plane to the U.K., gate agents will verify every passenger’s ETA status via digital link to the traveler’s passport.

Unpopular opinion time!
I think Aperol spritz are 🤢.

Whenever I’m in Italy 🇮🇹 and everyone around me is ordering an Aperol spritz, I go for the Hugo spritz. Most places in Italy have them now and they are made of:

-elderflower liqueur
-mint
-Prosecco
-soda water

✨ 🌺 MAMA’S FISH HOUSE 🌺 ✨

I didn’t understand what all the hype was about so I knew on my recent trip to Maui that I had to find out for myself. I made a reservation more than three months in advance and STILL only had a 2:30pm lunch time on a Wednesday available. I thought, “this better be good” and I’ll admit, I was skeptical.

I get it now. It’s the most quintessentially ‘Hawaiian’ dining experience you can imagine. The restaurant is partially open air on one side, almost directly on the sand, with the waves of beautiful Paia just steps away.

The menu is all fresh, local ingredients, the drinks are delicious, the atmosphere is perfect. It’s not cheap (like everything in Hawaii) but it’s definitely not your average dining experience - it’s a classic Hawaiian staple.

A new must-do that I will recommend for anyone visiting the east side of Hawaii’s Big Island - the Hawaii Botanical Gardens! 🌺

Absolutely stunning, full of tropical foliage, orchids, lilies, waterfalls, and everything in between. I’ve been enthralled by tropical plants since I was little, and especially for plant lovers, this is a dreamy afternoon in Hawaii if there ever was one. 😍

And since it’s not really along the main tourist stomping grounds of the island, chances are you will have a relatively peaceful stroll down to the ocean in this tropical paradise. 🌴 🌊 🌸

🇮🇹HAPPY ITALIAN AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH!🇮🇹

I’ve been planning more and more trips for people traveling to Italy in hopes of visiting their ancestral home, taking their elderly family member to see where his or her ancestors came from, and sometimes even meeting cousins, aunts, nonnas, etc. 👵

It is SUCH a rewarding experience to get to play a part in making this kind of experience come to life for my clients. And as my family is also from Italy and I am in the process of applying for dual citizenship myself, it is a cause that is near and dear to my heart. ♥️

One of the most heartwarming moments I’ve ever witnessed was watching my great uncle sit around a table in Sicily with family members he was meeting for the first time, not speaking any Italian, but enjoying a home-cooked Italian meal, laughter, wine, photos, and hugs all around. 🍷

Over 5 million Italians immigrated to the United States between 1820 and 2000 and there are currently over 26 million Americans of Italian descent residing in the US. This makes Italian-Americans the fifth largest ethnic group in our nation. Each year, Italians around the country take time to celebrate their heritage, history, and culture with festivals and parades. The purpose is to honor and recognize the centuries of achievements, successes, and valuable contributions of Italian immigrants and Italian Americans. 🇮🇹

No! It’s not an espresso martini at 11am… what do you think I am? Some kind of savage? (👀)

It’s actually called CAFFE SHAKERATO and you can order it in some bars in Italy. It’s just coffee shaken with ice and you can sometimes have milk added (although for some reason this particular bar said ‘you can’t have milk in a caffè shakerato…’ - that’s Italians for ya, they all have their own “rules” about coffee…).

This is what I order when it’s too hot for me to think about drinking a hot beverage and I still want to sit at a cafe enjoying an Italian coffee.

I’m thinking about doing a more extensive ‘guide to ordering coffee in Italy’. What do you think? Something you’d be interested in? ☕️

PS - do you believe me now that it wasn’t a martini? 😅😉🤔
