WAQRAPUKARA
Waqrapukara comes from the Quechua language, means "horn-shaped fortress", located on top of a lithic mountain near the Apurimac river valley, at an altitude of 4300 meters above sea level, in the province of Acomayo, Cusco. It has an Inca construction architecture, two well-defined spaces, the fort itself, composed of circular and gradual retaining walls, stairs, military enclosures, observation areas, all this in carved stone characteristic of Inca architecture. The other sector is agriculture, there are cultivation platforms, irrigation canals and enclosures for agricultural activity. Currently it is considered the other wonder of Cusco, due to its impressive location and audacity of the Inca builders, when building it in a gigantic chasm. To get to this point, it is necessary to do it in two parts, the first on a two-and-a-half hour (2 1/2 hour) trip by bus, then a short 6km walk of regular difficulty until you reach the fortress. This hike is one of the best in Cusco, you can see stunning landscapes, native animals such as alpacas, condors, eagles, small high Andean lagoons, native vegetation. And the most important thing is that this whole walk can be done in one day.///
