St. Lucie County’s Environmental Resources staff is pleased to announce that kayak tours are back as part of the monthly guided nature series this December. Our experienced guides are trained kayak instructors as well as versed in the ecology of the St. Lucie River.

Kayak tours are scheduled at Petravice Family Preserve and Richard E. Becker Preserve, on quiet weekday mornings or Saturdays when the whole family can join in the fun. Registration and pre-payment are required with a maximum of 12 people per tour (minimum age of 10). Both single and tandem kayaks are available with safety equipment included. The cost to attend is $20 per person, $10 if you bring your own kayak. Guided hikes are free, but space is limited, so RSVP soon.

Only 9 more days until our opening weekend of Heathcote Botanical Gardens’ Garden of Lights! Treasure Coast Premier Light event in historic Fort Pierce Florida ! Runs every Friday & Saturday 5:30-9pm from November 24-December 30th! Tickets may be purchased online, through our gift shop or at the gate upon arrival. Adults $10, children 6-12 $3.00 , children under the age of 6 are free and Heathcote members only $5.00. This an event not regular garden hours so no coupons or discount are applicable. Over 3 acres of lights and displays! Our Bonsai gallery is also illuminated with a fabulous array of lights. You get to wonder the United States largest collection of Bonsai trees while experiencing them in a whole new light! While we love our furry friends they are not permitted for Garden of Lights. (We welcome you to bring them during regular garden hours)
