Yesterday we took part in the evening Aarti on the banks of the river Ganges at Rishikesh, the setting sun hidden by clouds pregnant with rain,a cool breeze rafting thru amid the chantings of bhajans created a surreal atmosphere of belief as we immersed our little offering of a diya, flowers in a floating urn to the river. An experience worth going thru prayed hard for the eviction of the dreaded virus from our beautiful planet.

Yesterday, we went to the mountain region of Burma, landing at He Ho airport and then onwards yo lake Inle, the weather cganged dramatically from hot and sultry to freezing cold. The first stop was the caves of Pinmaya which are famous for their 8000+ Buddha statues some dating back 300 years. It was a staggering sight to see these statues which have been placed there by devotees of Lord Buddha from the world over for favours granted and wishes fulfilled.
Next visit was to a Burmese winery again a very scenic panoramic location, run professionally by wine experts from France and Australia. We did tasting of 4 different wines out of which 1 was yummy.
Landed at our beautiful hotel the lake inle garden resort early evening in a freezing 7 c.

An half boat ride from mandalay brings you to the island of Mingon, where you see these wonders.lers start with the Mingon belltill recently it was the second largest bell in the world but after the largest bell in Moscow got cracked it's now the largest working bell in the world.
Then comes the unfinished Pagoda which if completed would HV been the tallest in the world but the king of the time died whilst it was being constructed hence his successors felt they would meet the same date and didn't finish it. Observe my picture of with n without cap in the same frame in front of the Pagoda adimple vendor girl selling lunhis took it.
Next us the brilliant white stupa with the seven waves.truly a sight to behold.
Finally we come to the world's largest book
On marble consisting of 729 marble slabs each of them have the Buddhist scriptures in Pali encrypted on them and each slab is enshrined in individual mini pagodas. Simply unbelievable.

Landed in Yangon today afternoon and from the airport itself one got a hint that this is a modern city, very clean roads.disiplined traffic.thd most pleasant surprise was the hotel, swanky almost 5* property, very spacious rooms with a garden sitout. Our first sight seeing was the statue of one of the world's biggest reclining Buddha a massive 217 feet long one at the Chaukhetegyi Pagoda, this one's also known as the sweet eyed Buddha as the eye are really cool. Simply awesome.
Then followed the dinner at s Chinese speciality restaurant. A gastronomical treat ,with baby crabs, steamed sea Bass, agrilled skewered chicken and crisply shrimps and sea baits.
It's been a long day and hence off to la la Land they say first impressions are the best hence looking forward to the next 9 days of exploring this mystical country.
