There are A roads that are fine. And B roads that are mostly fine but have some narrow bits. Then there are these roads. 🫣. #cornwall #englishcountryroads #drivinginengland #silvergapyear #retiredtravelers #slowtravel #slowtraveleurope
Every evening at 7:00 we hear the church bells play this song. It’s been nice to be in a town setting for a few days, sitting on our balcony watching the people and the chaos of cars. And the government employees trying to build a fence for the basilica renovations going on. It’s been a hoot watching the workers, then the city employees come to tell them what’s wrong and put up signs, and then the local police move the signs, and the locals who always park where it’s restricted continue to park, now in the middle of the road, to go get their lotto tickets. Totally entertaining! Tomorrow we move on to a spot near the sea. Stay tuned…. #silvergapyear #retiredtravelers #slowtravel #slowtraveleurope #umbria #umbrialifestyle
Some things I loved about France… 1. Tops stay attached to water bottles. Snap on, snap off! 👍. 2. McDs and BK have hard plastic, recyclable French dry containers and drink glasses. And multiple recycle/ trash containers. Ice & drink leftovers here, food waste here, paper trash here. 4. Every town has multiple, neat and tidy recycle bins very convenient to everyone. Even as visitors it was simple to recycle! ♻️
While Philip heads to the fitness room, I prefer to walk a few laps on deck 8. Madeira is just I’ve 300 miles away, and it was 66° this morning. Beautiful! #vikingcruises #myvikingstory #retiredtravellers #silvergapyear #slowtravel
Four years ago we left our home town and moved to a lake about 30 minutes away. It was great during Covid, but eventually we decided Lake Life wasn’t for us. The problem is, we don’t know where we want to live! Back in our home town? Closer to the grandchild in Texas? Closer to the newlywed daughter in Tennessee? We have talked about doing some extended travel and figured we may as well do it now! We married while still in college and never had a study abroad or gap year experience. So this is our Silver Gap Year, or Retirement Reset. Whatever you call it, we’re doing it!
