This is by far the most important reason we are such huge advocates for proper #hearingcare and awareness for #hearinglossprevention and treatment.
A group of researchers presented their findings to the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference in London after a 4-year study looking at the relationship between #hearingloss and #dementia.
In a statement to The Guardian, Clive Ballard, a professor of age-related disease, explained that those with hearing loss tested "in the lowest 5% of cognitive performance and about 50% of those individuals will go on to develop dementia.”
He continued to say, "It is not the first study to suggest a link between hearing loss and cognitive troubles – previous research has found that the more severe hearing loss is, the greater the risk of dementia."

The world's leading hearing aid manufactures are striving to find new ways to make hearing aids more accessible in our daily lives. More and more of today's digital models can link directly to our other personal devices like TV, cell phone, or computer for wireless streaming straight to your ears.
.
The future is bright for hearing aid users and more integrated than ever 🙂👂⚛️
On this segment of Fact or Fiction with Dr. Parrish, she helps to explain why new hearing aid users can sometimes feel that sounds are louder than they remember at first.
.
When our ears are linking up with our brains to process incoming sounds, it can feel like a wave of new sound at once. It's important to take it slow when first starting with a pair of new hearing aids if the feeling becomes too uncomfortable or painful.
.
Give your brain and ears a little time, as you wear them more consistently through your day-to-day routine, your brain will adjust to the new volume and balance out. If not, it's time for a visit to the audiologist to have them tuned up or upgraded.👩🏻⚕️👂❤️
The world can be loud sometimes. Make sure you’re keeping your decibels in check 🔊✅👂
From all of us here at @saywhathearing we hope you enjoy this Memorial Day with your family and friends. We thank all of our active, retired and fallen service men and women for their contributions and courage.
Hearing loss is the most common issue affecting military personnel returning home from service. We encourage everyone to come to any local clinic for a complimentary hearing screening and evaluation.
Hearing aids are often grouped into three main categories:
-BTE (Behind the Ear)
-RIC (Receiver in Canal)
-ITE (In the Ear)
.
The device gets its name from where the receiver, or speaker, is located (behind or inside the ear canal). These three are the top-level types of devices, there are also more options that are placed deeper in the canal such as CIC (Completely in Canal) or IIC (Invisible in Canal).
Fact or Fiction: All Hearing Aids Sound the Same
"All hearing aids sound the same."
This is a common phrase heard throughout the world of hearing care, and it's not impossible to see why.
The line between hearing aids and PSAPs, lower-cost amplification products, has been blurred.
A price-conscious person looking for hearing aids finds devices that only amplify everything - instead of making sound *clearer*
This is an important difference. Audiologist, Dr. Heather Parrish helps explain.

The world around us can be a loud place. If you live in a busy city, many of the construction and industrial noises you hear every day are above the safe limit for listening.
.
Loud bars, restaurants, packed concerts, and the music from our own headphones start to take a toll day after day, year after year in wearing down the cells in our ears that allow us to hear naturally.

Make sure you are visiting your local hearing clinic for routine hearing tests or hearing aid fittings. #internationalnoiseawarenessday #hearingprotection #hearingloss
