Today we are concluding the Med Pearls project. 🔚

After 3 years and 8 months, the initiative for the development of tourism projects based on the Slow Tourism model is coming to an end.

From the project we would like to thank all the people who took part in our initiative and contributed their efforts to make the Mediterranean a better place. 🌊

Although the Med Pearls project concludes, the Breathing Land brand continues its way with the goal of promoting the Mediterrenean basin as a slow tourism destination for everyone.

There is still much to be done!

As we say goodbye to the Med Pearls project, we look back and remember all that we have achieved since its inception. 🔙

It has been more than 3 years of work in which we have been able to see how more sustainable and beneficial tourism methods and systems have a great place in the different regions of the Mediterranean.

📅 A one-day fam trip will be held in Jordan for operators on the 28th.

During this event, those present will be able to enjoy the new tourist experiences in the region of Al-Salt and Deir Alla.

Why is Slow Tourism so beneficial to the destination's economy? 🤔

One of the aspects that characterises Slow Tourism is that it maintains tourism activity even in times of low demand.

This is very positive for places whose economy is based on the tourism sector and which do not manage to earn as much income in the off-peak months. 📈

Med Pearls is celebrating! 🎉

Mazi Travel, one of the companies involved in the Med Pearls project, has won the Gold Award in the Green Passenger category of the prestigious Green Brand Awards 2023. 🏆

Through its Imathia AsAP programme, Mazi Travel has promoted responsible and sustainable tourism in the Imathia Veria region of Greece.

This award was a sign of recognition for Mazi Travel's commitment to sustainable and beneficial tourism.

To further discover the virtues of the Macedonian region, in Greece, as a tourist destination, the Med Pearls Steering Committee members visited the pilot sites of Imathia. 🔝

During a fascinating tourist day in Imathia, we enjoyed a tour of the Aegaean Royal Tombs Museum, a walk in Veria and a visit to a local winery.

It was undoubtedly a unique experience that allowed us to learn about the history and culture of the city.✅

Today the Med Pearls members met in Thessaloniki, Greece, for the final Steering Committee meeting to mark the end of the project.

During the day we visited the City Hall of Thessaloniki to discuss the project activities and events of the past months and to lay the groundwork for the final report. 💬

👉 And to use and learn more about the tourist potential of the area, tomorrow, the 17th, we will visit and learn more about the region of Imathia Veria. One of the Greek destinations of the Med Pearls project.

Time is a fundamental element for slow tourism. ⌛

In order to connect with tourist destinations, we must take the time to enjoy and understand them. Usually a couple of days visit is not enough to experience all that a place has to offer.

👉At Med Pearls we work to implement tourism plans that ensure the connection between the environment and the traveller.

🔝To close the Final Conference, all attendees enjoyed some of the tourism activities they had implemented in Jordan.

These included biscuit and aloe vera soap making, beekeeping or activities to experience what it is like to be a farmer in Jordan.

Today is the Official Day of the European Union!

The Med Pearls project was launched by the EU to create a responsible and beneficial tourism system for European countries and other regions close to the Mediterranean. 🌊

The commitment of the European Union is reflected in Med Pearls and other projects that share the same intention to bring value to the different countries that make up the area.

From Med Pearls, we thank the EU and all our European partners for contributing to our project and making Europe a more sustainable and beneficial area for all.✅

To capitalise on the results of the Med Pearls Project, a workshop was held with the participating companies.

This resulted in a great transfer of knowledge and skills, laying the foundation for a solid marketing framework to promote Slow Tourism. ✅

👉On the 3rd of May we started our Fam Trip in Alexandria.

Med Pearls, together with CEEBA and the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, proposed an itinerary to promote the heritage and cultural richness of the beautiful city of Alexandria.

Through different days, different tour operators were offered the opportunity to live great and unforgettable experiences that show the great tourist potential of Alexandria. 🔝

Throughout the different days of the Final Conference in Jordan, a large number of topics were discussed. 💬

On the second day, conferences were held to analyse the challenges and trends in Slow Tourism and how to implement new products based on these changes. ✅
