Found this little piece of nonsense... entry into India now requires a negative pcr test to be uploaded to their portal. There is a huge flaw with this request...

ISSUE: They (also) require passengers who are ONLY transiting via high risk countries (depsite coming from a low risk country) to provide a negative pcr test.

FLAW: how is this at all logical is beyond me. Say (hypothetically) if i was to travel today from a low risk country via Singapore (transit for approx.6-8 hrs)...why do i need to provide a negative pcr test from my country of origin? I can test postive when i am at Singapore airport right or in-flight...when i eventually arrive at Delhi Airport...the border agent will only look at the negative test from 72hrs ago which was done in a low risk country. Meanwhile if i am postive, they wouldnt know and let me out...spreading my Covid all over precious India! How dumb is that!!
Temperature taking doesnt prove a thing with ever changing Covid variant, just saying.

SOLUTION: shouldnt everyone be tested at the instead, if India is so darn scared of Covid spreading?

I mean who sits in the office making such ill-logical decisions and signing them off. How stupid can that that person or team be!!

Any questions asked for clarification is met with a robotic copy and paste of...
"As per the latest govt. advisory, the self-declaration form is not required to be filled by passengers arriving from non high risk countries. For further information, we request you to please get in touch with the Airline concerned. You may also check the latest travel guidelines here: https://bit.ly/InternationalTravelGuidelineUpdate"

Workers at the port are blindly following the ill-logical rules set by the govt. No one brave enough to question and implement a change.

Also keep in mind that low risk countries have changed their covid policies...ie they dont do pcr test for travel anymore... its hard to get an appointment in the first place at short notice of 72hrs and it also costs a cupious amount to get these tests done. To put that into prospective...it costs approx. 160000rps per person! Absolutely not worth it for a TRANSIT via high risk country, esp coming from a low risk country!

Should this ill-logical nonsense carry on, then India risks loosing visitors coming in, at a very high rate. Getting rid off the transit pcr (at the least) requirement will be in the best interest of India!

Wake up people...its not rocket science! Covid will spread if you keep this 72hr negative pcr test from low risk countries nonsense. Test people coming from high risk ports at your own airport if you REALLY want to stop Covid spreading! Its a no brainer! 🤯 https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=491450556445262&id=100067409660906&mibextid=Nif5oz

Road trip... Auckland to Palmerston North 2020

29/05/2020

Royal Garden Indian gets high marks from me. I mostly avoid going into Indian restaurants (I make the best curries🤤), but had heard that their Lamb Biryani was the talk of the town. And I am pleased to say that I wasnt disappointed. For the little vegetarian person (my mini-me), we ordered Malai Kofta with garlic naan, chips (a Friday ritual for some) and for the non-vege option, we went for Bhunna Chicken with rice. Dont forget to try the yummiest Mango lassi that I have EVER tasted👍🤤 Superbly nectary, smooth, rose and jammy tasting deliciousness.
The ever so curteous and humble owner of the restaurant was a delight to chat with and was very attentive to our needs🙏. The ambiance of the restaurant topped it all up for me, with lovely gazals playing softly in the background while gazing at the colourful portraits on the wall of the beautiful land we all know as 🇮🇳🙏
Definitely recommend!

Mansarovar to Mt Kailash

Hey guys🙋‍♀️...spent the last night here at Mansarovar Lake. Brushing in the dark at 4am over a bucket of luke warm water, gathered together with the rest of the participants. Headlamps flashing and all. Such unique experience. Kinda makes it normal when others are in the same boat.
Today we drive up towards Yamdowaar where we will start our trek up to Mt Kailash basecamp...elevation between 5000-5500m.

After our routine morning Kriya session and medical screening we boarded our bus and were off towards Dirapuk trek - Kailash. Gosh I am petty sure I am missing some names and places as I write this blog. So much for Isha vollies advising me to keep it in your mind and write blog after Kailash🙄😝😂

Once we arrived at the start of the trek... we were allocated our porters and pony's. Tibetans have a certain ritual where they write their names on a piece if paper and get the participants to choose. Once the name is chosen, the porter/pony guide are paired with the participants and are together for the rest of the trek...in our case 3 days.
Before the trek begins all participants approach the Buddhist Stupa...where pilgrims are encouraged to make 3 rounds and going through thr Yamdowaar before commencing with the trek up to Kailash. The whole trek is approx. 12-14km and by pony it should take approx. 3 hours.

Off I went with my porter and pony... walked half way and ponied the other. The sight and the scenery is absolutely breath-taking. Shallow river flowing with crystal clear waters, beaver 🐻like animals popping in and out of their borrows for food, air and paying visit to thier human visitors. Domestic Yaks🐃 in the distant carrying our rest of the luggage. Sorrounded by seriously huge snow capped mountains constantly reminding us of how small we really are, which often can be a wonderful relief.

By midday we slowly approached the midway point where some very welcoming refreshments were waiting for us. Drinking hot masala tea ☕and dancing to some songs underneath the west face of Kailash is a memory I will always treasure.💃🙏🏔
Soon it was time for us to continue with the rest of the trek. As we approached closer and closer the weather turned and started to hail. It hailed for the rest of the trek. 🌨❄

Finally around 2.30pm I arrived at the base with my porter and pony guide. I was super tied by then and was looking towards the dormitory and our station area when Puteru my pony guide uttered the words..." look Kailash" as he pointed across and over my right shoulder. As soon as I turned and laid my eyes upon the most beautiful sight my senses have ever experienced, my eyes welled up with tears, my whole body trembled and my heart was filled with ulmost gratitude. I coldnt hold back my feeling and emotions and bursted out in a huge wail as I bowed down on the ground where we stood. There she was... big, bold, beautiful, dusted with velvety white snow, the one and ultimate only, Mt Kailash🏔🙏😍. I am sorry but I am not doing any justice explaining what I was feeling all over... holding back my tears as I write this now. All I can say is that I will live with that incredible moment for the rest of my life🙏🙏🙏 . My porters face were a sight to be captured as they got a huge shock when they saw me burst into uncontrollable tears and trembling😲😭. Dont think they were expecting this but I did sense that they knew what I was feeling... Tibetans are great devotees of Kailash too so they understand peoples sentiments. They probably didnt think a clown like myself would break down the way I did. 😂😝🤡

I sit here reminiscing those very moments when I truly laid all my sense upon Kailash🏔🙏. All the stories of Lord Shiva, Mata Parvati, Bal Ganesha and Kartikhe from my childhood days at temples and home, all became real in an odd sense. I felt genuinely blessed to be standing at the foot of Kailash🏔, the home of Shiva himself. Stood there recalling my dream I had at age 12...seeing a beautiful vivid face of Shiva on a full moon. It all made sense.
I was blissfully overwhelmed😍🥰🙏I would have stood there looking at Kailash for the rest of the afternoon but Daktu my porter probably felt colder than I did at that time, ascorted me into the compounds of our dormitory and handed over my backpack.

After the mandatory medical screening and refreshments... I got my self up towards our dom room. Pretty similar to Mansarovar accommodation. First thing my eyes searched for were power plugs and dont know why...but a heater😂🤔 As if!

Rest of the afternoon was pretty slow so just stood on the balcony looking at Kailash... which by now was almost fully covered by the rain clouds. I watched as the rest of the participants slowly but surely made their way into the compounds...laying thier first sights on Mt Kailash. Bowing their heads in respect and gratefulness.
Once we were all at the dormitory compounds, it snowed, continued to hail, and rain.❄🌨

Rest of the night was a challenge, as the sun slowly disappeared, the chill in the air started to do its thing. Rememner I am the one who sleeps with a blanket even in summer in NZ. 🥶🤧🤕 Even with two thermals on, 2 socks, balaclava, down jacket, sleeping bag, a thick quilt and a mink style blanket, the little old me still shivered until what seemed like forever, I eventually fell asleep. Wait🤚... only to WAKE UP AT 3AM to go to the freaking toilet which was a mile away (really wasnt but the state I was in ..everything seemed hard work and far)🤦‍♀️. Just the thought of walking down the wet slippery stairs... walking to the open air long drop toilet in the dark behind the dom (yes yes i did have my headlamp on but still😶), pulling down 4 layers of pants only to expose my bum out into the cold, was enough for me to consider wetting my pants in bed😂🤔😜 But my senses kicked in...somehow fighting through the numbness of my brains... I got my boots on (which was a mission in itself) and walked as quickly as my lungs😰 could carry me. As I squatted (tried to squart) in the dark relieving myself...I couldn't help but think, why is the darn toilet built right in front of Kailash and why on earth isnt there a roof on these toilets wals!🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️
Felt kinda embarrassed peeing in from of Kailash!!☺️😌🙈 One thing I was gratefull for at that hour of the night was...when I looked up at the sky. Never in my life have I seen so many stars. Probabaly never will again. The sky was lit with billions of twinkling bright spots with Kailash in the background...it was just a truly phenomenal moment. I forgot about all my bodily discomforts for that moment and stood underneath the clear starry night sky looking towards Kailash. Yet another moment for me to remember for the rest of my life.🙏

Many pieces of Kailash and Mansarovar will always be with me until my last breath... and I have more than a few people to thank for that.

Nirmala Nand (my mother), Preetika Lal (my sister), Nitin Nand (my brother), Kriyaana Mishra (my own little Kailash😍👩‍👧), Bhushan Mishra and Sada Nand...my papa in heaven. Without these beautiful blessed souls, I wouldnt be here to see Kailash through. Thank you for your love, guidance and support.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

A humble thank you also goes out to the one and only Sadhguru, Isha Scared Walks team, Isha vollies, Doctors, participants, sherpas, porters, hotel staffs, and agents.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Blessed to have completed my 40th year in the presence of Kailash!

🙏Shambho🙏

Saga to Mansarovar

Hey guys... so this morning we are off to the long awaited Mansarovar lake. Mansarovar sits approx. 4590m above sea level and is fed by the glaciers of Mt Kailash. This lake is considered sared amongst 4 religions, Bön, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism.

After a long drive we get our first look at Manasarovar lake from the windows of our coach. The colour of the lake is incredible. One can clearly see two distinctive shades of blue green/emerald glistening. The lake is breath takingly beautiful. Its calm and peaceful. One can sit on its banks for hours.
We got off the bus and gathered for a quick acknowledgement of the lake...mediation at the banks of Mansarovar. 🧘‍♂️🏞

We then continued with our bus ride towards out monestry dormitory accommodation. It was very humble and basic. Each room had 5/6 beds. lights only came on once the sunset and turned off around 10pm. In the mornings it was dark and we had to make do with phone, tourches or headlamps. we managed...didnt really have time to think about the inconvenience at all. Tight schedule so it was go go go. Tibetan style toilets (open air long drops) were located outside with no bathing facility. Wet wipes it was for us! The weather become colder as we slowly ascended towards Kailash. Each city becoming colder.

Next morning we woke up and gathered for an initiation(process) by Mansarovar. It felt very powerful as we all sat on the banks and chanted out loud with our eyes closed. As the sun rose I could feel the golden glow of the sun hitting the surface of the lake and reflecting on us. It felt somewhat out of this world. I was very tempered to open my eyes to see the sunrise but the chanting and being in the moment with others kept me focused. Tears flowing uncontrollably for no reason... chanting getting deeper and stronger. It was definitely an experinece I'd never had before and pray that every soul experiences it once in their lifetime. 🤷‍♀️🧘‍♂️🏞

On completion of the process we took a quick bathe with the lake water. We were warned the water was super cold but when the bucket full was poured over me...it felt satisfying...water was cold but it felt warm. I know it doesnt make any sense but thats the best I can explain it. The whole experience was incredible and I honestly cannot put it down to any specific word that would describe what I was feeling. All I know is that I could have sat there all day with someone pouring water over me and I wouldn't have felt cold at all. This is coming from someone who has a blanket during summer month in New Zealand🙄😝🙏

We all gathered in the dining tent later for some warm tea and medical check.
My BP shot up due to the altitude and weather conditions. Never have I ever taken so many pills in my life that I have taken on this trip.
Its been a real challenge for me physically and mentally.

My biggest fear about this trip was the lack of toilet facility but with the bus travel I've come to accept the open air nature pit stops. It all came crashing down when I laid eyes on the make shift tent toilets at Manasarovar. Honestly speakin...my system went on a shut down. I didnt have bowel motion until we reached the hotel 5 days later. I am gald by body reacted the way it did because I honestly would not have been able to manage potty without making a mess😮🤣🤔💩 Squatting is a key but if you cant squart you cant s**t without making a mess! Well I probably couldnt anyway😂😷🤭🙈

We were also warned not to take our business outside of the compound at night. There are black dogs that roam and could attack as they have the taste of human flesh. In Tibetan culture..when someone/something dies, they are left outside for animals to feed on instead of burying or cremating them. Hence the black dogs. So yes, my system was on a super lock down😂👍

Spent the rest of the day sleeping and
also took sometime out to walk along the banks of Mansarovar and sat there for a few hours watching the birds, ducks and other fellow participants enjoying the lake and just being in its presence.🙏🏞

Shigaste to Saga

Hey guys... off to Saga this morning. Leaving at 8am...another 10 hours drive. Alivation of approx. 2000m. Biggest jump in altitude so far, so lets see how to body handles it all.

Drive is very scenic and the usual nature pit stops and lunch breaks. Once again we are encouraged to do our altitude breathing techniques and chanting🧘‍♂️🙏. I personally found it extremely hard not to fall asleep..literally couldnt keep my eyes open for more than 5 seconds😓.

Once at Saga hotel, we went through the usual medical checks and so far all is well with me, apart from the usual altitude headache😨. Checked in, had some very delicious dinner prepared by the station Isha cooks and headed straight to bed for some much needed beauty sleep. 🛌😴😴😴

FYI, last shower and western toilet opportunity today as we wont have this luxury for the next 4 days! Tomorrow we go to Mansarovar 🏞😁🙏

Lhasa to Shigaste: 10hours bus drive

Morning wake up call was at 4.30am followed by Guru pooja then meditation then breakfast.
We were on the bus ready for our next journey up to Shigatse. Alivation of approx. 200m. So not a lot. The drive again was very scenic. The toilet breaks were super interesting...it was all nature bound. Will kinda miss the view of the mountains while relieving myself😉😋 Also have never seen so many bums🙈 out in the open...we all got to each other very initimately🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Altitude affected us all in some way or another. Most if us were falling asleep but were promptly slapped awoken by our Isha vollies. No one was allowed to sleep on the 10hurs bus ride. Reason being they wont be able to tell if we were actually asleep😴 or dead😵. plus sleeping somehow doesnt allow acclamatising to happen properly🤔🤷‍♀️

Not a lot happened during our drive as we were encouraged to meditate, chant and do our 3 different altitude breathing.🧘‍♀️🚍

Once arrived at Shigatse... our usual routine took place(medical screening, dinner, timetable reveiw) then it was off to bed for next days travel.🛌😴

30/08/2019

Lhasa sightseeing

ISHA took us sightseeing aka compulsory 7km daily walk that is all in preparation towards acclamatisng and our trek up Kailash. Its is all very well thought out. Though ISHA is NOT and never will be a "tour guide company", they are no less then one and honestly speaking better than any tour company.
Anyway, I digress, so once we were dine with our usual early mornings meditation 🧘‍♀️ followed by breakfast we headed off toward the main Buddist temple which houses the Buddhas golden statue was bless by the devine himself. Yup, Buddha was alive when this staute was made and he blessed it him. I can see the same happening with Sadhguru. Although he has said in one of his videos that he does not want any statues of himself, instead for people to follow his teachings and betterment of the world and each other. Personally I feel that statues are meaning less when people dont adhere to the teachings of the person they made statues of. Ayways...I digress yet again.
So, the temple was big, golden and very colourful. Once inside it was all very quiet, dark and crowded. There were many huge and I mean HUGE statues of God's and then there was the Buddha all decked out in gold as we see him mostly. Beautiful sight. Lots of devotees come there daily and theres always a huge long line to visit each shrine. Being inside in the dark I started to feel very breathless and had to come out. One of the Isha vollies helped me and once outside my altitude sickness disappeared. I was glad to be out of there to be honest.
After the Buddhist temple🏯👩‍🦲🧘‍♂️ we made our way to the second largest monastery - Sera Monastery in Tibet, built approx. 15th century ago. Housing approx. 7000 monks. The high light of this trip was witnessing the bebate between each monks. It was hilarious to watch them. Wonder who invented this type of debate system. The debate was obviously in Tibetan language and the monks would debate on different topics such as, politics, finance, religions, spirituality, science etc.
After the monastery we then went to the Potala palace built for 700ish monks by the King. Since its now been over taken by the... you guessed it...Chinese govt no one is allowed in the palace. So we did a Parikrama/Kora around the palace which took us approx. an hour. Built up some serious step count for this one!
it was then time for us to retire for the day...after dinner it was straight to bed for next mornings 8 hours drive to Shigatse.

29/08/2019

Hey guys🙋‍♀️...Just arrived at Lhasa hotel. Drive🚍 from Lhasa airport to the hotel was long but extremly beautiful and scenic. Lhasa has many huge mountains ⛰ and it feels as if we are surrounded by it all the time. Lhasa is very mordern and well developed. I wasnt expecting it to be so but I was pleasantly surprised. It isnt as crowed as media puts it in the news...at least not this part of China anyway. There are beautiful big apartment buildings spotted everywhere. Less people, less traffic, less pollution. Most if not all scooters are electric as are many 3 wheelers. Air is clean, clear but dry. One visiting must always without a miss carry castor oil and apply to their nostrils to prevent from crusts forming inside. Once the crust is formed and if peeled...it will bleed.
Everything in Lhasa is in Chinese so if travelling alone (tho I believe one cant just fly in on their own)...best of luck finding your way around. I know I wouldnt be coming to this part of China on my own...I will be lost.
As for the hotel, it is huge..to me I feel its a whole lot of waste of space. Decor could do a wee zhush up. Dont get me wrong, its ok but I personally do dont prefer unnecessary high ceilings and tasteless chandeliers. Rooms are decent size with double and firm beds... just the way I prefer. Bathroom on the other hand, tiny and the bath was leaking from where the seal had come off. Otherwise its clean and mordern.
Breakfast was provided by the hotel and the food choice was good. I love Chinese food so I pigged out🍝🥣🥡🥠
Lunch and dinner was on ISHA so they made food conducive to high altitude. As mentioned earlier, the hotel is so huge that it would take us 4-5 minutes to get to the breakfast hall which was at the opposite end. Since we all are acclamatising, we are not allowed to run or walk fast. I went down only when needed🤣🤣🤣😋
Off to bed now as we have to be awake at 4.30am for our usual morning rituals🙏🛌😴😴😴😴😴😴
