Why now...
Imagine graduating from UC Berkeley without having ever visited the magnificent reading room of Doe library, paying homage at the birthplace of Plutonium, or hearing the story of the Sather Gate nudes. Yet, the official campus tour doesn’t cover these places, and their stories lie forgotten.
This marked the genesis of my very first campus ‘walking’ tour.
I’m a graduating MBA candidate at Haas, and spent much of my first year taking random walks on the campus pausing ever so often to learn about its history.
Participants see parts of the campus that they would never have were it not for the tour. And they come to appreciate the weight of history borne on the shoulders of this great institution. Every participant, student or otherwise, leaves the tour seeing or learning an aspect of the UC Berkeley campus that they were previously unfamiliar with.
