Las Vegas women are taking the love of golf to a whole new level this year. Divas on Course organizers, Ellen Brown, Marla Everson and Tanya May, are turning casual, weekly golf outings into a sanctioned, all-female golf league offering intense immersion training for beginners using two female Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) golf instructors. Divas on Course is in the process of charte
ring under the Western States Golf Association (WSGA). Women of all skill levels are encouraged to join The Divas in playing nine stress-free holes every Tuesday evening. “We are providing women with the support and camaraderie needed to learn the game, but in a relaxed environment,” noted Ellen Brown, Charter President of Divas on Course. “Having the support and resources of the WSGA and experienced professionals on our team is priceless.”
According to the National Golf Foundation, “intimidation” is a major factor which prevents women from learning golf. The Divas’ professional golf instructors are well versed in overcoming the barriers presented to women on the golf course. Divas on Course presents a unique experience where women can benefit from the instructors’ diverse experiences on the professional golf circuit and acquire the tools to become skilled, confident golfers. In addition to playing at league rates each week, the Divas learn proper golf etiquette, USGA rules, acquire a golf handicap, and enjoy opportunities improve their skills through regular golf clinics, weekend boot camps and light competitions. Social activities outside of golf are also planned to strengthen the friendships and expand interests. Divas on Course is accepting applications for general membership from all women of all skill levels. The annual membership fee ranges from $50 for local privileges and $100 for local and WSGA benefits.
