Today’s beach walk rewarded us with a live mollusk! This Apple Murex snail was found near a cluster of oysters, and was returned to its habitat after we took a good look at its foot and operculum. We only collect empty shells!

Happy ! As it turns out, humans aren’t the only species that enjoys a . Many birds, reptiles, invertebrates, and mammals (like this ) rely on the beach as their habitat. Please try and respect their habitat by picking up after yourself, never chasing the birds, and allowing for lots of distance between you and your wild beachgoers 🦝

P.S. Raccoons can commonly be seen during the day in SWFL. It is a normal behavior and does not indicate a rabies infection. Fun fact of the day!
