2. Use a local bank’s ATM instead
3. Decline the conversion rate: when you reject the conversion rate, it will default back to your home bank, which will give you a better rate than the ATM
4. Use a card that doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees - always check your terms and conditions for your debit and credit cards to ensure that they do not charge any foreign transaction fees. Some recommend using or debit cards for accessing your money abroad

State Dept is allowing for online passport renewal! I did this last year when they were testing the system and it was easy to complete. No expedited renewals is the only downside 😐

The option, which is available only on a limited basis, doesn't take expedited or urgent-travel requests.

Hotel- Aloft St Louis Cortex
Day 1 -Six Flags St Louis, we purchased a diamond season pass for $99 which included speedy parking, 15%off food and merchandise, a season drink cup, and you can use the pass for all 6 theme parks around the country. We also got the flash pass that allows you to skip the line for rides. We were able to do most of the rides in about 1.5 hrs. They also have hurricane harbor for swimming and a water park which we'll try next time.
We visited the St. Louis Arch but the tickets to go to the top were sold out so definitely plan in advance for this. Still got some nice close up pics and they have a museum inside that don't require tickets.
Dinner was BBQ beef ribs from C&K Barbeque. The location is not anywhere near the touristy parts of St Louis......😶BUT if you're comfortable going to the *hood* parts of town for some good food then this is your spot! The ribs were very tender and the sauce was really good! Order ahead to save time waiting, this is a carry out establishment.
Day 2- Brunch at Elicious Southern Style Breakfast & Brunch in Ferguson, MO. I had the catfish and grits plate with scrambled eggs and biscuits 😋 👌🏾 I've had catfish in a lot of different states and this was definitely some of the best catfish I've had! Perfectly seasoned and fried, even took some to go!
Next was the St. Louis Aquarium which is located in a plaza with a couple other attractions and a couple food trucks. The Aquarium is smaller than most aquariums I've visited but definitely interactive allowing you to get close and personal with different animals including touching Jelly fish.
Unfortunately a tornado warning derailed our dinner plans but I was able to get some white castle which was cool since they seem to be slowly closing them all down in Nashville 😢

Travel insurance can be purchased per trip for around $50-100 per trip depending on the policy you choose. However, If you take 3 or more trips a year I highly suggest a yearly travel insurance plan, I pay roughly $240/yr. Travel insurance covers trip cancellations, flight delays, lost baggage, medical coverage and evacuation, and car rental coverage. It's important to read what the policy covers and doesn't cover as well as online reviews to determine the best company and policy for your specific needs.

A must see when visiting Nashville is Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey in Shelbyville, TN. They have tours Thursday- Sunday and give an in depth history of Uncle Nearest who's story of how he perfected tennessee whisky, a story that was forgotten, is brought back to the forefront and bestows his proper place among great American innovators. For 1.5 hours you will tour the facilities, learn about the distilling process as well as a tasting of some fantastic whiskey. After the tour there's a bbq restaurant right on site as well as the Guinness book of record holder for the world's largest bar at the Humble Baron.

Top things to know before you go
*English is widely spoken
*Credit/bank cards are accepted in restaurants and shops but not in taxis.
*Taxis are easily accessible but expensive as on average we spent $15-20 per trip, so it adds up quickly when you use a taxi multiple times a day to get to meals and excursions. There is no uber/lyft so keep cash for taxis.
*Rental cars are also viable option, they drive on the right side of the road but they drive in typical aggressive Caribbean fashion IYKYK 😂
We probably would've saved some money by renting a car or possibly hiring a driver for the weekend.

I truly enjoyed this trip for my 39th birthday. The hotel was nice, the staff were amazing and the location was great, within walking distance of several bars and restaurants and 5 mins from the airport.
We were able to enjoy zip lines, ATVs, and good night life.
Every restaurant we tried were great and I definitely recommend Palapa Grill and Skip Jack's SXM
