Happy New Year, TBO, and see you later!
When Eze and I came together to create TheBlackOutdoors in 2017, our goal was to shift the narrative that Black people don’t spend time outdoors & encourage you to get out. This community grew to over 10k followers and we loved being able to highlight you and share your experiences - whether you were hiking, biking, kayaking, camping, off-roading, urban exploring, or practicing yoga in your backyard.
We hosted local hikes and a couple events across the country. We supported similar organizations and people in their work to diversify the outdoors. We enjoyed every moment and truly appreciate you joining us along the way.
Life has brought us many changes (some good, some challenging) over the past couple of years - moves, growing families, new jobs, lost loved ones, managing the pandemic - and well, TBO fell down our priority list. With the new year, we’re taking inventory on where we are and being more intentional with what we can devote time to.
With that comes something like the end of TBO. We’ll leave the IG active (with hopes of returning bigger and better later!) but theblackoutdoors.com will close January 17th. We have some inventory to liquidate, so if you want a shirt, hoody, or hat, head over and make a purchase.
Thank you all for making TBO what it is, Embracing the Escape, and letting the world know we belong outside too!
