Update Regarding Accessibility of Trails and Falls:

In response to many inquires… the historical ladder at the bottom of Mooney Falls is still there and usable. Please descend at your own risk. Beaver Falls remains accessible along the normal path down the canyon. If you choose to hike to Beaver Falls you do so at your own risk.

We cannot give any update on the status of the trail between Beaver Falls and the Confluence as that trail is located in the Grand Canyon National Park.

Have a great time and enjoy your experience! But remember to be attentive to your surroundings as your journey is through a natural beautiful environment that is ever-changing.

We look forward to welcoming you back.

The Havasupai Tribe extends its condolences to the family and friends of the male hiker who passed away this weekend on the trail to Hilltop.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2024, the Havasupai Tourism Office received a distress call from a male hiker indicating that his traveling companion, another male hiker, needed assistance. Tourism personnel contacted Airwest Helicopter to assist in locating and rescuing the hiker. Airwest immediately began searching for the distressed hiker on the trail but upon locating the hiker, he had already passed away.

Arrangements were made to transport the body from Supai Village later that day.

No additional details are available at this time.

Temperatures on the trail this time of year are in the triple digits and the sun’s heat is extreme. This heat-related death is a reminder of the importance of proper hydration and taking appropriate measures while hiking in hot weather. Hiking in and out of Havasupai is strenuous and all individuals must be prepared.

This is not an easy hike, especially in hot temperatures. Please be cautious.
