What a day we had! Saturday was spent in the Santanoni Range, checking off peaks #38-40 on my wonderful client Connie’s list! We had a few showers, but overall the day was very hot and sticky. We battled unbelievable blowdown, rough trails, and lots of miles, but had an awesome time in the mountains tackling these beasts.

I just arrived home from a trip to Grand Canyon National Park, where I (of course 😋) did some hiking!

South Kaibab Trail to Skeleton Point is a great trek that offers a challenge, without being unreasonably long for most. It’s important to note that it gets HOT as you descend into the canyon, and this trail has no water refill points like some other trails in GCNP.

Another great weekend spent at the 46er’s Outdoor Skills Workshop. I presented twice on topics related to food, water, and prep for camping/backpacking, along with fueling for success when out hiking and adventuring.

🍁 Head to Indian Ladder Farms next weekend for MAPLE FEST 2024!

🥾 On Sunday, I’ll be leading two hikes (both FREE!) at 11:30am & 2:30pm. Well walk around the farm and check out the trail system on the property, and talk about all things maple!

Registration is not required for these hikes, but comment or send me a DM if you plan to attend so we have a rough head count!

Bryce Canyon was National Park #4 on my recent trip to Utah!

The crowds were few as the temps in the park the day I visited were around -10 with the wind chill! There are definitely perks to visiting off-season, but make sure you layer up!

🎒 Lately, I’ve been staying busy with a HUGE reorganization project!

⭐️ Organizing and properly storing your gear is crucial to success in the mountains. If gear isn’t stored correctly, your equipment won’t perform as designed.

🪶 Down is an excellent example of this! If stored compressed for long periods of time, the down will eventually lose its ability to “loft”, which is how it helps you stay warm.

⬇️ Down sleeping bags are stored in large mesh sacks that promote breathability, and down jackets are hung up and left uncompressed.
