✈️ Oman Air to suspend flight operations to Sri Lanka

Oman Air has announced major changes to its network, including adding and removing destinations as well as changed frequencies.
As part of its ongoing transformation, which aims to improve the company’s overall financial performance and fortify its position in an increasingly competitive market, Oman Air has announced several strategic changes to its network.

These include the addition of a new route, Sialkot, in Pakistan.

Furthermore, it will cancel operations to
• Islamabad
• Lahore
• Colombo
• Chittagong

The airline will also be reducing frequencies to certain markets while increasing capacity to two current destinations (Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram).

In addition, three destinations will be operated on a seasonal basis: Trabzon during the summer season, and Zurich and Malé during winter.

The airline has also introduced measures to optimise its schedule, starting this summer.

To better cater to the local market and serve key flows in and out of the country, flight times have been revised for several of its destinations, with emphasis on more favourable slots to offer greater convenience for direct passengers and maximize connection windows.

Meanwhile, the airline is continuously evaluating its strategy to adapt to changing market dynamics and identify additional opportunities.

Maintaining alignment with government stakeholders including the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Oman Air remains committed to the economic and social objectives of Oman’s 2040 Vision.

Re-opening of On-Arrival ETA Counter at the Bandaranayake International Airport and Mattala International Airport

The Department of Immigration and Emigration has been commenced issuing ETA at arrival by reopening the On-Arrival ETA counter at the Airport for limited number of bona-fide tourists with effect from 07.10.2021 with a view of encouraging the arrival of fully vaccinated tourists.

Please be informed that, issuing On-arrival ETA will be facilitated for tourists who are unable to obtain ETA by online method due to time constraints experience when arranging their journey to Sri Lanka within a very shorter period. Further, this facility will be provided considering as an essential service requirement by adhering to all covid-19 preventive measures declared by the Government of Sri Lanka.
In view of the above, On-Arrival ETA will be issued as per the provisions prevailing in the Immigrants and Emigrants Act and in par with the quarantine measures declared by the Ministry of Health on 28.09.2021for travelers arriving from overseas during the pandemic of covid-19.

As per the section G.1 and G.3 of the aforementioned guideline,

Fully vaccinated travelers will be released from the airport and do not needs to do Day 01 PC test or undergo quarantine after arrive in Sri Lanka.
Travelers, who have not fully vaccinated need to do Day 01 PC test and they should undergo 14 days mandatory quarantine at a safe and secure certified Level 01 hotel. Also, they have to abide by the covid-19 preventive operational guidelines issued by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) after arrive in Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, On-Arrival ETA service can be obtained by fully vaccinated tourists only. However, please be noted that, it is advisable to obtain the Online ETA by the tourists prior to their arral to avoid unnecessary delays at the Airport.
