Can't get enough of the "t*ts fountain" in Óbuda part of Budapest (meaning Old Buda)! 😅🙃🤪

They are supposed to be GRAPES!!! 🍇🍇🍇 (Wasn't it obvious??) 😅🤣🤭 for the large amounts of grapes grown and wine made in this area till the filoxera disease kicked in in the 19th century. 😢

They are even more funny in the summer, when the water is actually turned on. 😅🤭🌊🍇🥰😍🤩 Little hidden gems of Budapest. 😉🙃🤭🍇🍇🍇

Visit the Duchess Rooftop Bar on top of Matild Palace, 5* Hotel overlooking the Danube and the pictoresque Buda Hills! 🌅🌄🌃 Enjoy a cool cocktail 🍹, wine 🍷, lemonade 🥤 or beer 🍻, enjoy the cool vibes of the DJ music in the background, relax, be enthralled, and take in the scenery! Ahhh...Budapest, where else to enjoy it's magnificence, than on top of the Duchess herself. 😍✨️👑 (no pun intended!! Lol 😅🤭)

Look what we found in Dob utca, heart of the party district in Budapest! 😍 George Clooney, look out, cause here comes Cirkusz, with their own brand of home-roasted coffee, with some of the best brunches in town! Maybe there is a "what else"? 😉😅🤣☕️☕️

A wonderful day at Normafa, popular hiking destination in Budapest, with friends, dogs, and hot tea on a sunny, windy day...on the highest point of Budapest 🏞🏔🌄, on top of the Elisabeth (Sissi) Lookout Tower.

If you are in the capital, the half-day hike is well worth the visit, with cafés, eateries, the famous 'lángos', sausage, hot wine, 'rétes', the Hungarian strudle, and views you will never forget! ☀️🏞⛰️

And, in the warmer months, you can try the super cool chair-lift (libegő), either on the way up ⬆️ or down ⬇️ 😁🌄

Budapest has so much to offer, even in nature! Give it a try! Or, contact me, Kati Hartai at igobudapest if you would like me to organize an excursion for you, and your family or friends!

See you soon at the top of Budapest! ⛰️🏞😊🇭🇺

The Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace, Budapest, Hungary

One of Budapest's most prestigious hotels has just been voted one of the best hotels in the world, and has made it to 'The Gold List 2024' of the Conde Nast Traveller's guide to the "Best Hotels and Resorts in Europe and the UK".

Read on. 😊

//
This is Budapest’s grandest hotel, a 1906 marvel of Secessionism (Central Europe’s take on Art Nouveau) that’s undergone an exceptional renovation: chandeliers and stained glass repaired and cleaned, mosaic tiles scrubbed, white stucco repainted. Its location couldn’t be better, on the riverfront, in the heart of buzzing Pest, looking across the Danube to hilly Buda and the medieval Old Town, and right by the famous Chain Bridge. Concierge Peter Buday and his team fizz with advice and information – about where to find the best bars, and other discoveries – though the area around the hotel is seething with interest: see opulent Gundel, the famous café and restaurant that opened in 1910; the smart shops of Andrassy Avenue, a broad boulevard modelled on the Champs-Élysées; the Franz Liszt museum; and the glorious Hungarian State opera house.

Thank you so much for this wonderful review! It's always good to know it's worth doing these tours! 😊🤗🥰

"Kati was very informative and patiently answered everyone’s questions. She had a great attitude and approach to sharing her perspective on Hungary’s history and culture. Well worth the time, and great value as a way to get oriented to the Buda Castle District."

Found this amazing group of people at the Buda Castle District, blowing these amazing bubbles, and, the second time I met them, doing acro yoga. 😊 This was the first time I tried it, and it was such a liberating feeling to fly right beneath St. Stephan, our first king! This is why I love my job. 😁😍

Please like and share my Page igobudapest if you wish to support my work, and/or contact me for a tour! Tours for friends are usually tip-based and you will have to buy your own entrance ticket, but it is still far cheaper than buyimg the actual tour advertised for tourists. So let me know!

As a side note, I seem very unprofessionally surprised by not just the beauty, but the mere existence of this chapel!! 😄😃 The reason is that it was remodelled and made into the Chapel it is today in 2019, just before Covid stopped the flow of tourism in 2020 and much of 2021, AND, it is kept very much a secret feom tourists and tour guides alike! However, the Mary's Chapel is open all day, and is a little silent haven in the heart of busy downtown Budapest! A must-see beauty! But ssssshhhh!!! Hush, keep it a secret, and don't tell anyone else! 😉🤫🥰

The beautiful Mary's Chapel in the St. Stephan's Basilica.

Opened in 2019 after remodelimg and renovations, this is where the Holy Right, our first King's mummified right hand used to be held, but now it is a liturgical space and chapel, and the Holy Right can be seen in the main wing of the Basilica.

Come and discover this wonder with us!

Sometimes even iGoBudapest leaves Budapest! 🤩

I am now in the USA, collecting and revisiting memories, creating experiences and making new connections!

In the process, I ended up in St. Louis, where I was honored to attend a "Hungarian Picnic" at St. Mary of Victory's Church, joining the Hungarian community there to celebrate the Anniversary of the Revolution against the terrors of the Communist regime, on October 23, 1956.

I even had a chance to speak, and recite parts of the poem, Angel from Heaven, by Sándor Márai, a Hungarian emigrant, written in New York, 1956.

We had "Goulash" (which was really a beef stew, aka pörkölt, but that's how they know it here), Bull's Blood wine (Bikavér), and Tokai Aszú. We had a great time! 😊

From August 15th to 29th igobudapest was proud to host 17 teenagers studying English at Berlitz international language school, their two coordinators, and two sisters, Nina and Natalia, who were the organizers from a Georgian organization, One World, dreamed up by their Mother, to allow the youths of Georgia to experience language learning and international relations abroad.

We took part in tours, games, learning about the similarities in Hungarian and Georgian history, and even sang "We are the World" at Karaoke night.

I hope they will never forget these 2 weeks in Budapest! And for the right reasons. 😉🥰🙏🌏🇭🇺

Last week we said good-bye to our Georgian guests, who came to Hungary for a 2-week summer camp to learn English and visit Budapest, make intercultural relations, new friendships, and expand their horizons!

They chose igobudapest as their partner, and we had a great time with the group of 17 Georgian teenagers and their 4 coordinators/organizers, as we toured the city from Pest to Buda, had Karaoke and dinner, saw the awe-inspiring St. Stephen's Basilica, and set out on a Kolodko mini statue Treasure Hunt. 😊💛😍😁

I am happy to have made friends in a new country, where I will be visiting one day for sure! 🤗🌎

Looking forward to many more tours with you!! Let's here it for the Georgian kids, who are smart, mature, have their own ideas about the world, and speak amazingly good level English. 😊

Check out some of the pics of our tours together spanning a period of two weeks!

More pics to come!! 🤗❤📸

A Puli and a Gulyás (traditional cow herder in Hungary), and the mascot of iGoBudapest, Pati kutya (dog in Hungarian). 🤗❤🐶🐕

Come visit Hungary, and the many wonders of Budapest and beyond...it is a Dog-gone good country!

Taste the amazing Goulash soup, marvel at the sights, and wash it all down with a glass of good Hungarian wine.

Wine festival happening today at Freedom Square (Szabadság tér) with many stalls of smaller and bigger Hungarian wineries! 🥂🍷🥘🥣🍲🥗🍷
See you there! 😊

Update: What I thought was a cowherder, or Gulyás, is actually a Betyár on double-checking! 😃 A betyár is a somewhat popularized (heroified) outlaw, a bit like Robin Hood although they didn't always give back to the poor...however, there is at least that much mystery and legend around them, and folklore. The Puli is still a Puli. 😃🐶 The betyár and gulyás did look a bit similar in dress, though, so it was easy to mix them up. I will post a few pictures in a comment or separate post soon! 😊
